Dear readers,
It’s Christmas time! (In case you hadn’t noticed…) It’s a time where families get together to celebrate, where food becomes the centre, where wine glasses are lifted in toast…where stress, money and bills are all crazed children running through your head as you try to not focus on them.
This is a semi-goodbye letter. Not completely. It’s a “I’ll be here when I can” letter, but also, it’s a letter to let you know that my presence here might not be that frequent.
We are going through some stressful stuff right now, no need to go into it further than that. But it will mean that a lot is on my mind and heart, and I’m not sure how much space will be left over for blogging. You never know though, I might need this “out” more than I think.
Thank you for poping by and supporting me in my blogging! I love every minute of it, and I hope I’ll be able to continue the KJBlog in 2010.

It’s crazy how, after a week of -40c weather, -10c feels so summery! “You know you’re Canadian when…”
I’m looking through Etsy today, trying to decide about a custom buckle from Fosterweld, browsing Gift Guides (and lusting over this summer floral picture by Get The Picture) and getting in the Christmas mood!
A few more things I need to do to get into the Christmas mood:
- Watch Love Actually
- Put on the Xmas tunes and wrap gifts
- Drink some mint hot chocolate
- Bake goodies!
Tonight my little sister is coming to sleep over. She’s 15 and I love it when she sleeps over and we can have a Girls Night. Chick flicks here we come!

Sometimes people make “cute” look so effortless! Jeeze…
Well peeps, it’s -40c here and ice fog is surrounding my work place so thickly, you can’t see anything. Why we are still open is beyond me. Seriously. What farmer in his right mind is going to be needing tractor parts in weather like this??
I should have phoned in and said my truck wouldn’t start. Dangit. Why didn’t I think of this earlier?
I’ll have new pictures of the kitchen this evening. You wouldn’t believe what we (aka: Hubby) has accomplished! I just about pee my pants every time I walk into the kitchen. I can’t believe it’s really mine, really just about finished and really so amazing. Wow. I seriously feel SO blessed!

I have no words.
My sis is married, and so stunning!
Tears.
So instead I’ll post my speech.
I have been writing this speech in my head since Sall and I were really little. Not only because I couldn’t wait for the day that she met the man that she would marry, but also because Sally has had so many blonde moments and I couldn’t wait to share them with everyone. She’s lucky that I lost the journal I was recording them in though…
Weirdly enough, just after I started writing this speech, I came across Sally and Bruce’s EHarmony ads and I thought it’d be great to read them. Here’s Salls:
“Pretty little Trolly Dolly looking for tough guy. Must have money and be willing to spend it (on me), cannot have the occupation of a farmer, cannot live in Dawson Creek, must have accent. I have big brown eyes, will woo you with baking and home made meals. Getting old at 24 so save me quickly”.
Bruce’s was kinda interesting:
“Cop man looking for maiden in distress. Loves long walks on the beach, chick flicks (such as Grays Anatomy) and playing scrabble. Willing to sell motorbike for huge engagement ring and use handcuffs when needed.”
For those of you that don’t know, I am the reason that Sally and Bruce met. 😀 Sally had it in her head that she wanted to move back to Australia, so I hatched a plan to make her stay in Canada. I forced her to sign up with EHarmony.
Via phone and emailing Sally and I went through the guys that were suggested for her, not really finding anything super interesting until we landed on Bruces’ profile. For some reason I had a feeling that this “Bruce” guy was the one for her.
After her first date with Bruce, Sally called me and told me all about it. Sall’s told me all about her other dates…even texted me while she’s in the middle of them…but this was different. With every other guy Sall has dated, she’s been unsure. She’s questioned every step, she’s worried, and her stomach has been in knots the whole time. But with Bruce it was comfortable from the start, Sally didn’t have any questions, she wasn’t uncomfortable during the date and she fully enjoyed herself and this meant alot! My plan had worked!
Bruce, I know that you are exactly what Sally needs for a husband. You’re calm, relaxed, and adventerous. You’re a born leader but in a gentle way and you obviously adore Sally to pieces.
Sally, I know that you’re going to make an amazing wife. You have the biggest heart, you take care of those around you, you cook a mean meal, you’re understanding and you’re generous.
Marriage is amazing guys, you’re going to love being married! If I could give you one piece of advice it would be to always listen. Truly listen to what your partner is saying, realize that what they’re saying is a real concern to them, listen to their venting, listen to their happyness, and listen to their worries.
I know you two are meant for each other, you compliment each other in every way.
Everyone please fill your cups. To the beautiful couple: to love, to happyness, and to PDA. To the new Robinsons!

And just like that, the kitchen flooring is in and the cupboards in all their pieces take over our space.
We’re almost there, home plate (ha! get it? kitche…plate…never mind. Unless you’re like me and have been eating off of styrofoam plates and plastic cutlery for months on end, you might not appreciate that comment. Who am I kidding? No one ever gets my ‘jokes’. Dangit! ) never seemed so close. But first, a break for a winter wedding.
Calgary is in the middle of a huge snow storm. One bigger than they’ve seen in years, or maybe it just seems like that. Our rehearsal was cancelled tonight because the pastor couldnt’ make it on the roads, families flights have been delayed and even calcelled….but we’re safe, warm and happy visiting in this hotel. Ok, we’ll maybe “happy visiting” isn’t the best way to describe it. But we are visiting. Gah, I wish that comment was a joke. Oh make me stop now. It’s late. I’m tired. I’ll stop.
I don’t know if this picture will do the roads and weather justice, but this is what we’re dealing with this weekend:

But it’s an adventure! I told my sis that we would have to have the wedding in a small street in the middle of the snow, like Pheobe on Friends. She didn’t laugh. Apparently that plan wasn’t an option.
Hopefully she’ll let me live through this weekend…
Help me.

Christmas isn’t even here yet and already I’m thinking of January birthday gifts! I just received this quilt in the mail (it only took a week!) for my Mom’s birthday. The three oldest kids in the fam are going in on buying it for her and we just know she’s going to die when she sees it!
Check out QuiltLover’s shop for more absolutely amazing creations!

Done and done! Well…the paint part. But it’s a huge step in the right direction. And, even better, the flooring is getting installed tomorrow. Wow, that’s going to change things! I can’t wait!
We’re just about there, only a few more weeks and we’ll have it all finished!

I need to get away. My schedule is so full right now, and I’m not really complaining because it really is fun, but when this week is finished I need to get away.
It’s a good thing my sisters wedding is next week, at least we’ll be staying in a hotel and I won’t have to cook, or make the bed. And I’ll be able to soak in the hot tub in the evenings (hopefully…). Yes, it’s going to be busy getting ready for the wedding, but it’s also a different type of ‘busy’. I can’t wait!!
