It’s My Friday
In Uncategorized on August 22, 2009 at 4:12 pmSaturdays are my Fridays. I have to work a half day, so when people say “Have a good weekend” on Friday, it really don’t mean anything to me.
They’re also the day that I ride my bike to work. This morning I wasn’t going to, we had been up late quadding in the dark with a bunch of friends, but the sun was shining and I thought I needed a challenge today, so I rode the bike. I work 5 minutes out of town so it’s a little bit of a ride, but going back home is the kicker. There’s a big hill near my house that is my nemesis. I have yet to ride up the entire hill, but today just might be the day.
Saturdays are always boring at work (it’s a good thing that it’s only a half day!) and so I logged onto Etsy and was confronted with this tornado of color: Click me. I wish I could do a screen shot of it, this Treasury is amazing. You’ll want to eat it up!
Have a good weekend!! I’m sure you’ll hear from me a little bit, I have pictures to post!
Oh, also, check these photos out! I love the one of the sunset.
House Renos
In Uncategorized on August 21, 2009 at 3:46 pm
Well, it turns out that nagging your husband works….and then you suffer because of it, haha.
We’re finally getting going on our new kitchen! I’d been constantly presenting Hubby with ideas on a new kitchen, pictures, floor plans, color combos…the threat to never have children. Haha, just joking with that one. But the truth is, we wouldn’t have been able to have more than one child in this house if we didn’t do something about the kitchen.
So finally Hubby sees the light and we start demolishing our kitchen and boot room. Now, our bootroom is gone and our kitchen has shrunk, there’s mud and dust everywhere. There’s also been a few thunderstorms since we took the roof off, which means we’ve been getting up at 2:30am to make sure the tarp is secured. Fun times!
But if we keep focused on the end result, it’s all down hill from here!
The foundation is being poured this afternoon (it’s more advanced than this picture…), cabinets and counter-tops will be ordered this next week, as soon as I can make sure the drawers and cupboards are where I will find them handy.
I’ll be posting pictures of the cupboards, counter-tops and paint chips as soon as I can!
We’re on our way!
Like I said…
In Uncategorized on August 19, 2009 at 4:50 pm…Why me?
Last night, I went for a bike ride with one of my friends, Laura. We’ve been going for rides at least a couple times a week and both really really enjoy the work out and fresh air (how I’m going to live without my bike rides in the winter, I don’t know).
We’re riding along last night, going down one of the main streets in town, but it wasn’t too busy, so we were side by side, chatting about the latest story in our lives.
A siren went off behind us.
A police siren.
“Is that for us??” Yes, it was for us. Lights, siren, action. If only there was a camera involved. The cop was really nice, apparently stopping us because we should be single file instead of side by side…but realllllly….how bored must he have been to stop two girls on peddle bikes?!
Yeah, we laughed so hard!!
And as my friends say “Only you Kate, only you”.
Why Meeeee??
In Uncategorized on August 19, 2009 at 12:04 amMy blog links are all messing up, I can’t go to Design Lovely or Erin Zam so far…why meeee?? Why me God? Whyyyy? 😀
But really, why would they start messing up now? I haven’t even touched their links. Hmmm.
I’ll be bock. As Arnold says.
The White Owl
In Uncategorized on August 15, 2009 at 3:00 pmI haven’t been visiting Etsy very often lately…partly because I’m slightly bitter at my non-success on that site, but also because I have tons on my plate at the moment (which may have something to do with my lack of success…).
Every time I do visit the Etsy site though, I’m reminded about the passion I have for creating. My eyes fill my brain with amazing inventions, creative conquests and brilliant ideas. And questions like “Why didn’t I think of that?!”.
The White Owl shopis now being featured as Etsy’s Featured Seller and it’s a perfect shop to be in that place. It’s a store you just have to take a look through, their pieces are so delicate and girlie. It’s captivating.
Summer Evening
In Uncategorized on August 14, 2009 at 9:00 pmOriginally uploaded by Olivia Bee
I’m loving the colors of this photo, and the lighting behind her hair. It has such a typical summer evening feel to it. If only she was holding a piece of BBQ’d corn, then it really would be the perfect summer night (but would also look kinda weiiiird).
A friend and I are going to be doing a photoshoot pretty soon, we’re just finishing up all the final touches. We bought three summer dresses for the shoot, all for under $15, a large silk Peony, a blonde wig from Ebay (in a bob style), and we’re borrowing a pair of cowboy boots.
We’re going go do the shoot at my parents farm. I figure pictures by the horse, maybe in the woods with the goats, or in the chicken coop with a chicken under my arm, would be pretty cool. We’re also going to bring a picnic basket, quilt and wine glasses down to the woods and see what sort of fairy-tale / whimsical feel we can create down there. Should be interesting!
WP
In Uncategorized on August 14, 2009 at 4:16 pmDon’t you just love the look of the new WP main page? Maybe you’re not a WordPress user, but you should look at the new page. It’s modern, sleek, easy to search around and super attractive. Love those new pictures!
The new page has really helped me find new blogs, of all types, and I love the different reads.
- This morning there’s a photoblog entry from Anderson Cooper, not only the best looking man in the newscasting world (hubba hubba!) , but a guy who gets the right questions answered.
- Then there’s this artice about one night stands, something interesting to read anyways.
- And an article about Somalian refugees.
I often feel like I’m behind on the world’s happenings, but it’s articles like these that help me learn more about what’s going on in this universe. It takes me two minutes to read a quick article, and I feel better for it. That…and I get to swoon over Anderson Coopers picture. 😉
Creating Yourself
In Uncategorized on August 13, 2009 at 3:00 pmI just saw a cool quote on M. Writes blog:
Life isn’t about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself.
So true! Life isn’t about partying and thinking “Is this who I am? Does this suite me?”, it’s about living life and thinking “Is this how I want to be viewed? Is this the image that I want for myself?”.
I see so many kids (ha! “Kids” my own age) that lived crazy lives when they were younger because they thought that was the way to find themselves.
I think more “kids” (hubby always laughs when I call our peers that) need to live by the saying above. There’d probably be way less issues in their life if they did.
Create what you want to be, create the person you want to become, create the image you want to portray. It’s easy to become that person you see walking down the street, the one you admire. It’s not cheating to strive to be more like them, it’s showing part of yourself. As long as you’re being true to yourself and your desires, you’re headed in the right direction.
