New Pocket Palls!

In crafts, etsy, store on October 9, 2008 at 12:42 am

Meet Franke and Cass. They’re best friends. They love making mud pies and spying on spying on Cass’s older sister, Darla. Cass loves eating Maltesers, but Franke hates them. So Cass sticks her tongue out at Franke when she’s eating them.

                                                             Franke loves drawing.

                                                                Cass loves painting.

Franke also likes taking weird pictures of herself.

I’m so content right now. I’m drinking Tim Hortons Double Double and eating Tim Bits, I’m writing a few new ads for the radio station…and of course blogging (: AND last night I was able to sew up two new Pocket Pals, which I’ll be posting pictures of later this afternoon. They’re pretty dang cute!

Allllso! I’ve been working with a GREAT Etsy shop, Henry Rabbit. She’s been creating ads for my Etsy shop and this blog. I can’t wait to post them, they’re really great! If you’re looking to advertise this Christmas season 1) you’d better get on it soon and 2) Go to Henry Rabbit! She’s SOOO affordable and so worth every single penny!

I’ll be back soon with pictures!

Feature Friday – Little Sparrows Nest

In crafts, etsy, seller, sellers, selling, store on October 3, 2008 at 3:00 pm

I’ve been trying to re-do our bedroom. My colors are pale green with one wall in a very light pink. I’m trying to come up with ways to decorate the wall above the bed and while I was looking through Etsy I found Little Sparrows Nest. Their pictures are really so beautiful, soft and elegant.

I’m imagining several of these pictures put into a large square…you would never loose interest in that collection of pictures…all different and breathtaking in it’s own ways.

Geeks Unite

In blog, etsy, store on September 29, 2008 at 6:00 pm

My hubby is always calling me a nerd or geek. He’s a computer tech and I’m on the computer more than he is (: But that’s what happens when you’re a blogger and Etsy seller, you have to be on the computer or things just won’t get done!

I was checking out another blog today and she linked to this site – apparently it’s great for me because I’m a “Geek”. It’s called GeekSugar, and has a tag line of “geek is chic”, I’m totally getting a T-shirt made with that line (: Maybe matching ones for me and the hubby…hah.

Check out the site, it’s awesome and it will help you realize that being geeky isn’t a bad thing. It’s damn sexy.

But I’m not…I’m here…waking up early for another Farmers Market. Hopefully this morning will go better than last week!

I’m so exhausted that I really shouldn’t be going this week, but I committed to it, so I really should. It really is a good think that it’s a long weekend, otherwise I’d be a mess for the coming week. My hubby’s bummed that we can’t go camping (friends are coming from out of town and we need to visit with them!) but I’m just as happy to laze around the house and craft.

I finally received my newest project supplies in the mail! The new straps I’m going to be trying out! I’ll need to test a few bags with it first, but I’m really excited for the final results to start showing. There’s some great ideas in my little brain, we’ll have to see if I can bring them to life!

Creative Lapse

In blog, crafts, creativity, etsy, seller, sellers, selling, sewing, store, stores on July 31, 2008 at 4:56 pm

This week has been really lacking in creativity for me…well, when it comes to sewing and my normal crafts, I guess I’ve been creative in a different way.

Last nights event with Karla Carol-Ann, the makeup artist and fashion stylist from NYC was really interesting. I spent all day at the hotel getting the conference room ready, decorating and making sure the set up of the room was what we needed (the hotel didn’t take notes when I was describing what I wanted before and had everything completely wrong when I got there).

The biggest thing I learned from Karla was to wash my makeup brushes…did you know to do this?? I had no idea! But it really makes sense since you’re using them constantly and they collect bacteria. Also, I discovered that I need to get new brushes for my eye makeup. Anything to make the morning ritual go faster!

But that’s enough about that…

Creativity is a MUST for tonight! I’ll be working on accomplishing my weekly goals as well as sewing a new Kiki Bag, special ordered from a co-worker. I’m excited to work on this bag as it’s the same style as my Hobo Bag. It’s just a fun and cute style.

I’m also still waiting for my grommet press that I ordered on Ebay, I hope it comes before the weekend so I can have a project to work on during my off days.

Gimme!

In crafts, etsy, seller, sellers, selling, store, stores on July 29, 2008 at 10:38 pm

I should almost write a daily post on things I want from Etsy…it’s way too easy to find items I want on that site! Dang you amazing crafty people!

Isn’t this wrap amazzzzing?? Ahpeele is a one of those super sellers on Etsy, they have incredible products that people just can’t resist (I’m so doomed).

You know those funky household stores you walk into that immediately make you smell yummy? Red Leaf is one of those stores…only virtual. I want this spray, in this muggy heat, it’d feel so refreshing!

When I was little, we visited my family in England and I claimed my Grandad’s newsboy hat as my own for the entire trip. Now that I’ve grown up and they style’s now in again, it’s time to get one of my own! Sanchia’s store is so perfect and I’ve just GOT to have this hat!

The Vintage Chainis a new store on Etsy that’s a M.U.S.T to take a look at. Cute items! And it’s on my Gimme List this week (: Um yeah, husband…I hope you’re reading this.

Ok, goals for this week:

  1. Take picture of new bags
  2. Finish two new Kj Bags
  3. Work on BIG PROJECT (!!!)

I’ll explain more about the new Kj Bags when I’ve posted them…but I’m just not very happy about them…I’ll tell you more about that later.

Hot Saturday!

How cool is this shop?? Wall decals are the “new thing”! You can get funky sayings, have “decal pets” or build on the atmosphere of the room. Take this chandelier for instance, where else can you buy a chandelier for $30.00? And! It can be any color you want. Awesome hey?

Wall decal’ing is the perfect way to funk up any room in your house, or…your brick and mortar shop! (check out this cute little coffee cup!). And the decals don’t take up and floor space!

Goccoing

In crafts, etsy, selling, store on July 23, 2008 at 7:00 pm

I accomplished a couple of my goals last night, I cut out several Kj Bags (with new pocket designs!) and then worked on my Gocco printing. I haven’t done Gocco for a while so it was really exciting getting back into it! I was so bummed when I wasted two bulbs (they’re only good for one time) by loading the screen and blue filter wrong. Dang it!

I bundled the finished cards into groups of six and I’ll be selling them at the Farmers Market this weekend. I’m not sure if this is something I’ll continue doing, but it’s just a fun project I wanted to try out. I’d like to screen-print some paper for this type of thing eventually, but that won’t be for a little while. I think it’ll end up being more affordable though.

I think I’m going to price the cards at $10.00 for each set. That makes it only $1.67 per card, which I think is a huge deal for something handmade. You can’t buy generic cards for that much!

Fabrics

In etsy, sewing, store on July 22, 2008 at 10:23 pm

Looks like I have more projects to work on! I received the Amy Butler fabric and some Gocco bulbs in the mail this morning (: YAY!! I’ve been wanting to try out some more stuff with my Gocco but haven’t had any bulbs! I can’t wait to do up some cards to sell at the Farmers Market this weekend! And that fabric…doesn’t it just leave you speechless?? It’s so beautiful I can’t stop staring at it!

Did I tell you I went on a fabric shopping spree this weekend? Well, I did. I thought there was still a huge sale at Fabric Land so I traveled two hours to go to one…and it turned out the sale was over. But being the bargain shopper I am, I still managed to stay within my budget and find some great fabrics. These fabrics were still on sale, but just not the amazing 50-70% off that I was hoping for.

I’ll be making these fabrics into bags starting tonight (no matter how tired I am!) and selling them at the Farmers Market this weekend! I can’t wait!!
