Asterix-002

Aw, Asterix is 50! I loved reading these comics when I was little, and still love looking through them now. Great drawings and funny stories! I didn’t realize they were so old when I was reading them before…no wonder it’s been hard for me to buy some!

Sigh

I know, I know! Enough screen shots already! I just wanted to share this one, maybe I’ll have it in a Treasury soon!

Work is getting to me…I’m really begging that I’ll have the opportunity to quit my job soon and work full-time with Etsy. I need to be my own boss. I won’t get into it, but if you have a boss, you know the issues that can come up. It’s gettin old. I’m just sayin’.

I wish I could stay home from work this afternoon!

Creative WOWSA

I have a huge love for graffiti. Every summer / fall I head down to the train yard and take pictures of the amazing art on the normally ugly and plain train cars. My hubby doesn’t really ‘get’ my interest in this type of art, but that’s exactly what I think it is “Art”.

I would LOVE it if CN Rail would hire graffiti artists to decorate their cars. Trains are so boring, imagine if they were in full color? They sure would turn heads and CN would get tons of attention.

Another one of my graffiti dreams is to take a trip to several huge cities and get someone who knows the area to take me around to the best graffiti art. To build up my collection of photos of graffiti would really be awesome!

Take a look at this guy’s art work. CN? Would you like his resume?

New Site!

Have you ever heard of Fred Flare dot com? I just found it through the Featured Artist on Etsy. It’s a really cute site with cool items of all sorts (: Take a peek! I haven’t quite figured out if it’s all handmade items…or what the site is about exactly, but there’s super awesome stuff on it!

Speaking of the Featured Artist on Etsy…when am I going to get to be on there? (: It’s a goal: One of these days I’ll be the featured artist.

ETSY NEWS: I sold TWO bags on Etsy the other night. Two. To the same buyer (: Yay!! Hopefully sales are picking up! My goal is to have steady sales on the net during the winter and focus on the markets in the summer. That way I’ll have a good income coming in constantly.

Another new bag to come this afternoon!

PS: Also, check out great Flickr artist. Holy. Crap. Love it!

Oops I Did it Again!

I guess I have an excuse: We did end up going camping last night so I was keeping myself busy with getting ready rather than blogging (:

So here’s Feature Friday…just on Saturday.

It’s SJane today (: Their catch line is so catchy: “Cute Stuff”. I love SJanes cartoon characters, in every shape and form. From stickers, hand carved stamps, toys and felt badges…all of them are so freaking adorable!! I should get some stickers to decorate my sewing machine!

Feature Friday – Jengs Shop

People are always saying that you should comment on other blogs…not only to be nice, but to also get your name out there a bit more. I just comment because I like to, and sure, it’s nice if I get a view and comment back, but it’s not really why I do it.

Here’s another reason why commenting on blogs is great: It might get you a Feature Friday in one!

I found Jengs Shopwhen I was browsing through Make It, one of my fave blogs. She had left a comment and for some reason or other, it intrigued me to look further. I clicked on the name and it brought their Etsy shop. And voila! Now they’re being featured in my Blog!!

Jengs Shop is filled with great art work, to frame, use as note books, gift cards…there’s also beautiful photography.  It’s the perfect affordable stop for unique gift items or something to frame.

Yanayanayana!

Supa Yana is the Etsy Feature Artisttoday…I “met” her via myspace way back when and have admired her work ever since. Actually, I guess you could say she was the artist that inspired me to pursue my love for sewing…I started off trying to make tops but when that didn’t go over so well, I started on my bags. I saw how she sold online and it really encouraged me to go after that resource.

Read it!

Feature Friday!

You know those girls that have all the “perfect mother dreams” before they actually become a mother? That’s me. Well, not totally, I have a realistic point of view of motherhood since I’m the oldest of 8 kids and had to put up with them screaming all night etc. but when it comes to DOING things for my kids, that’s where I get a bit dreamy.

I want to put my babies in cloth diapers, feed them fresh veggies from my garden (gotta work on this one, still can’t seem to make my veggies live!), sew clothes for them, and allow them to be “cool” kids without letting them get all wrapped up in that image.

For a while there I thought there was no way I’d be able to put them in cloth diapers, for one thing…where do I get them from?? Duh, ETSY! I stumbled across Green Way Babywear and found my answer!

Green Way provides cute and practical cloth diapers as well as knit coverups (how funky, hey??). Not only do they look so adorable, they’re totally practical and beat those pokey-not-so-comfortable plasticy coverups that are sold in the big stores. And, if you live in the freaking cold north like I do, they have LONGIES!

Check out the Green Way Babywear shop for their pricing and more products and for super cute baby pictures (:

Spring Lambs

In Uncategorized on July 12, 2008 at 8:00 pm

There’s something about sheep that really make me feel at home. It’s hard to explain, but seeing lambs play and ewes nurture their young, really just makes me feel…relaxed and comfortable. It’s the farm girl in me I guess (: My parents have several sheep, all with their own names and personalities. This spring they all had a set of twins, cute little babies, some with black faces, some with clean white wool. So beautiful!

I was searching in the Storque for a good article to read and saw they had a new Handmade Portrait video. I seriously love all these videos and this one was no exception. If you’re in need of a bit of inspiration, this is the video to watch!
