“I look good. I mean real good. Hey everyone, come and see how good I look!”. (A quote, from Ron Burgandy…not really what I think of myself. But I sure do think my shop looks nice!).

Christmas is almost here! Can you believe it?? I can’t. It came so fast…hopefully this year I can love every minute of it before it slips past us.

I have such a huge amount of family to buy for (7 siblings, mom, dad, inlaws and their children…which reminds me! Did I tell you I just became an aunty again?! My sister in law had her little Briea Lynae and she’s the most ADORABLE little newborn you’ve ever seen. I’m so proud!). Etsy as always is coming to the rescue! Last year I bought every single gift on Etsy, although hubby bought his boy gifts at Canadian Tire. It was a life saver not to have to leave the house or drive 2 hours to the city.

This year I have hubby’s mom and sister to buy for and while I was browsing through Etsy, these amazing post cards poped up. What a great stocking stuffer!! They’re colorful, which is what everyone needs in this dreary winter weather, and they’re just eye-catching!

Feature Friday – Jengs Shop

In Uncategorized on August 22, 2008 at 8:54 pm

People are always saying that you should comment on other blogs…not only to be nice, but to also get your name out there a bit more. I just comment because I like to, and sure, it’s nice if I get a view and comment back, but it’s not really why I do it.

Here’s another reason why commenting on blogs is great: It might get you a Feature Friday in one!

I found Jengs Shopwhen I was browsing through Make It, one of my fave blogs. She had left a comment and for some reason or other, it intrigued me to look further. I clicked on the name and it brought their Etsy shop. And voila! Now they’re being featured in my Blog!!

Jengs Shop is filled with great art work, to frame, use as note books, gift cards…there’s also beautiful photography.  It’s the perfect affordable stop for unique gift items or something to frame.

Busy Little Bee

I was busy again last night, could have worked for several more hours, but I turned it in at 9:30. I made several more bundles of cards AND (!) the most exciting news is the above card. It’s my own art work (: YAY! I sat down and sketched it out, traced it with the carbon ink pen from my Gocco set, made a Gocco screen for it and printed several sets of cards from it! It’s going to be so exciting seeing if people respond to this design, I sure had fun making it but it’s all about what the customers think.

I stamped the back of every card with my KatelyJane stamp from Sweet Paperie and wrapped the bundle of six cards in a inch strip of paper, closing it with Glue Dots and stamping the KJ Stamp on it again.

I was also busy cutting out MORE Kj Bags and sewing them. We’re in a “not spending any money” mode right now, and I need liner for a couple of my bags…so I guess they’ll just have to wait. I’ll focus on what I have and do my Gocco art, and I should be good for the Farmers Market.

Goccoing

In crafts, etsy, selling, store on July 23, 2008 at 7:00 pm

I accomplished a couple of my goals last night, I cut out several Kj Bags (with new pocket designs!) and then worked on my Gocco printing. I haven’t done Gocco for a while so it was really exciting getting back into it! I was so bummed when I wasted two bulbs (they’re only good for one time) by loading the screen and blue filter wrong. Dang it!

I bundled the finished cards into groups of six and I’ll be selling them at the Farmers Market this weekend. I’m not sure if this is something I’ll continue doing, but it’s just a fun project I wanted to try out. I’d like to screen-print some paper for this type of thing eventually, but that won’t be for a little while. I think it’ll end up being more affordable though.

I think I’m going to price the cards at $10.00 for each set. That makes it only $1.67 per card, which I think is a huge deal for something handmade. You can’t buy generic cards for that much!

Fabrics

Looks like I have more projects to work on! I received the Amy Butler fabric and some Gocco bulbs in the mail this morning (: YAY!! I’ve been wanting to try out some more stuff with my Gocco but haven’t had any bulbs! I can’t wait to do up some cards to sell at the Farmers Market this weekend! And that fabric…doesn’t it just leave you speechless?? It’s so beautiful I can’t stop staring at it!

Did I tell you I went on a fabric shopping spree this weekend? Well, I did. I thought there was still a huge sale at Fabric Land so I traveled two hours to go to one…and it turned out the sale was over. But being the bargain shopper I am, I still managed to stay within my budget and find some great fabrics. These fabrics were still on sale, but just not the amazing 50-70% off that I was hoping for.

I’ll be making these fabrics into bags starting tonight (no matter how tired I am!) and selling them at the Farmers Market this weekend! I can’t wait!!

Business Card Proof

In Uncategorized on July 17, 2008 at 10:04 pm

I took my own advice (novel idea) and stopped in to Apples and Chalk Dust to get her to design a business card for me. I told her I liked swirls and the colors Pink and Slate Grey…this is what she came up with! What do you think? I haven’t ordered any just yet, I’d like to get some other opinions on them before I do.

I really like what she’s done here, leaving the fourth rounded corner is especially genius and I really love the font of “Katelyn Jane”.

Let me know what your thoughts are!
