Sometimes people make “cute” look so effortless! Jeeze…

Well peeps, it’s -40c here and ice fog is surrounding my work place so thickly, you can’t see anything. Why we are still open is beyond me. Seriously. What farmer in his right mind is going to be needing tractor parts in weather like this??

I should have phoned in and said my truck wouldn’t start. Dangit. Why didn’t I think of this earlier?

I’ll have new pictures of the kitchen this evening. You wouldn’t believe what we (aka: Hubby) has accomplished! I just about pee my pants every time I walk into the kitchen. I can’t believe it’s really mine, really just about finished and really so amazing. Wow. I seriously feel SO blessed!

And just like that, the kitchen flooring is in and the cupboards in all their pieces take over our space.

We’re almost there, home plate (ha! get it? kitche…plate…never mind. Unless you’re like me and have been eating off of styrofoam plates and plastic cutlery for months on end, you might not appreciate that comment. Who am I kidding? No one ever gets my ‘jokes’. Dangit! ) never seemed so close. But first, a break for a winter wedding.

Calgary is in the middle of a huge snow storm. One bigger than they’ve seen in years, or maybe it just seems like that. Our rehearsal was cancelled tonight because the pastor couldnt’ make it on the roads, families flights have been delayed and even calcelled….but we’re safe, warm and happy visiting in this hotel. Ok, we’ll maybe “happy visiting” isn’t the best way to describe it. But we are visiting. Gah, I wish that comment was a joke. Oh make me stop now. It’s late. I’m tired. I’ll stop.

I don’t know if this picture will do the roads and weather justice, but this is what we’re dealing with this weekend:

But it’s an adventure! I told my sis that we would have to have the wedding in a small street in the middle of the snow, like Pheobe on Friends. She didn’t laugh. Apparently that plan wasn’t an option.

Hopefully she’ll let me live through this weekend…

Help me.

Christmas isn’t even here yet and already I’m thinking of January birthday gifts! I just received this quilt in the mail (it only took a week!) for my Mom’s birthday. The three oldest kids in the fam are going in on buying it for her and we just know she’s going to die when she sees it!

Check out QuiltLover’s shop  for more absolutely amazing creations!

We’re finally getting to the part of our kitchen expansion that I can be more involved with (will I regret saying that? Most likely…): The decorating!

The walls are drywalled and ready to be mudded and taped, which means that painting will soon be upon us, and then installing the flooring. Since this also means that within a few weeks (cross your fingers) I’ll be hanging curtains and recovering our kitchen chairs, I’m looking for options.

I’ve always loved these colors together, and since I saw it in a couple weddings on the Style Me Pretty Blog, I’ve been wanting to incorporate the colors into my home. If I can’t get married again, why not use in the home decor? Haha!

I’m going to be talking with my interior design friend to see if these fabrics would look good with the wall color I’ve picked out, and what she thinks about having them all together. Maybe a bit much? What are your thoughts?

And I’m asking for:

belt

Fosterweld Belt (to go with my awesome belt buckle from last year!)

napkins

Napkins for my kitchen table when the kitchen is finally finished. This colour would be perrrrfect.

The spare room needs a color scheme, this might be it…LOVE this quilt!!

It’s My Friday

In Uncategorized on August 22, 2009 at 4:12 pm

Saturdays are my Fridays. I have to work a half day, so when people say “Have a good weekend” on Friday, it really don’t mean anything to me.

They’re also the day that I ride my bike to work. This morning I wasn’t going to, we had been up late quadding in the dark with a bunch of friends, but the sun was shining and I thought I needed a challenge today, so I rode the bike. I work 5 minutes out of town so it’s a little bit of a ride, but going back home is the kicker. There’s a big hill near my house that is my nemesis. I have yet to ride up the entire hill, but today just might be the day.

Saturdays are always boring at work (it’s a good thing that it’s only a half day!) and so I logged onto Etsy and was confronted with this tornado of color: Click me. I wish I could do a screen shot of it, this Treasury is amazing. You’ll want to eat it up!

Have a good weekend!! I’m sure you’ll hear from me a little bit, I have pictures to post!

Oh, also, check these photos out! I love the one of the sunset.

Monday Laxin’s

ormolu

Lazy Mondays. Well, not for everyone, but for the summer season I have Sunday and Mondays’ off of work. It’s nice, Mondays’ no matter how many days you had off before, Monday’s are always tough.

So this morning as my hubby is leaving for work (late, because he’s self employed and can do that…lucky duck), I’m sitting on the couch, blogging, and watching Burn Before Reading. I knew I would love this movie, it looked like a goofy satirical movie…which I tend to like (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang…same thing, same type of humor, same unique story line. Love it!).

And then I’m looking through Etsy. And somehow, by going through my favorites and their favorites, I found this store: Ormolu. I love the details that are on Ormolu’s pieces, like these ones, or these.

necklace

I’m totally swooning over these necklaces! I just found them on the front page of Etsy (Kangas, you lucky duck!) and I am just drooling (ha! I just about wrote ‘drooping’ there).

At the Christine Kangasstore, you can buy necklaces and matching earrings, they’re all so quaint and so “just plucked out of the garden” feeling. You’ll feel like a pixie or nymph wearing these incredible creations!

Just beautiful!

Icecream and Treasuries

I’m totally in like with this Treasury! Aka Cinders created it and was a lucky girl and got it featured on the front page of Etsy! Wowsa! My favorite item? Why, thanks for asking! It’s the yellow pencil skirt, hands down. By Ureshii. Take a look at their shop, it’s like an icecream  store. So many flavors, so many yummy colors.

Spring Outfitting

dress2

I can’t wait to get my hair cut! Tuesday, it can’t come fast enough! I’m imagining this dress, with my new hair cut and this cute little flower. Both cutesy items from Etsy and perfect spring colors. You know what the best thing is about these two items? They’re both really well priced! Ok, well maybe that’s not the BEST thing…but it sure is nice.

By the way, the awful winter weather has subsided here in My Little Town and a spring breeze is rushing through, melting the snow away. Hubby keeps saying he thinks it’s spring, but I don’t have the courage to say that yet. This country always teases us.
