We’re finally getting to the part of our kitchen expansion that I can be more involved with (will I regret saying that? Most likely…): The decorating!

The walls are drywalled and ready to be mudded and taped, which means that painting will soon be upon us, and then installing the flooring. Since this also means that within a few weeks (cross your fingers) I’ll be hanging curtains and recovering our kitchen chairs, I’m looking for options.

I’ve always loved these colors together, and since I saw it in a couple weddings on the Style Me Pretty Blog, I’ve been wanting to incorporate the colors into my home. If I can’t get married again, why not use in the home decor? Haha!

I’m going to be talking with my interior design friend to see if these fabrics would look good with the wall color I’ve picked out, and what she thinks about having them all together. Maybe a bit much? What are your thoughts?

Hubby has thoughtfully designed a inset bookshelf in my kitchen, right above the small desk that will hold the phone and laptop. And, as fluke has it, a potlight is right above the shelf to add a homey and comfy glow. Love it!

I was thinking today, it would be cool to do some texture on the wall behind the desk and something creative with the inset shelf, to make it even more of a feature.

And somehow I found this link to doing wall stencils! I’m really loving on the look in the first video there. I think that might be the one.

bracket

And some cool brackets to finish off the shelf? Yep, I’m really loving this idea! I’m brilliant…

It’s My Party (and I’ll cry if I want to…)

And I’m asking for:

belt

Fosterweld Belt (to go with my awesome belt buckle from last year!)

napkins

Napkins for my kitchen table when the kitchen is finally finished. This colour would be perrrrfect.

quilt

The spare room needs a color scheme, this might be it…LOVE this quilt!!

It’s My Friday

In Uncategorized on August 22, 2009 at 4:12 pm

Saturdays are my Fridays. I have to work a half day, so when people say “Have a good weekend” on Friday, it really don’t mean anything to me.

They’re also the day that I ride my bike to work. This morning I wasn’t going to, we had been up late quadding in the dark with a bunch of friends, but the sun was shining and I thought I needed a challenge today, so I rode the bike. I work 5 minutes out of town so it’s a little bit of a ride, but going back home is the kicker. There’s a big hill near my house that is my nemesis. I have yet to ride up the entire hill, but today just might be the day.

Saturdays are always boring at work (it’s a good thing that it’s only a half day!) and so I logged onto Etsy and was confronted with this tornado of color: Click me. I wish I could do a screen shot of it, this Treasury is amazing. You’ll want to eat it up!

Have a good weekend!! I’m sure you’ll hear from me a little bit, I have pictures to post!

Oh, also, check these photos out! I love the one of the sunset.

So I have the day off work today…unexpectedly. It’s slowed down enough at the tax office that they don’t need me anymore, so I have the week off. I’ve told my new job that I’ll be free this week if they need me, but until they let me know if they do or not, I’m free!

I woke up at 5:30 this morning, not on purpose, but I did get up and got a lot done! It’s amazing what a couple more hours in the day will do for your housecleaning!

Right now I’m sitting on the couch, searching through Etsy, and watching Sara’s Cottage. Have you ever seen that show? It’s amazing. This interior designer is completely re-working a family cottage. And it’s making me drool. I’m going to copy her kitchen I’ve decided. It’s just perfect for the look I’m going for in our re-modeling this summer. Now, to just convince Hubby…

I need to reupholster the kitchen chairs so I’ll be keeping my eye out for some light green plaid or striped fabric. I think we’ll go for white rectangle tiles for the kitchen back splash, white and grey flecked counter-top, grey or light green cupboards (if I can find some that are affordable), and for flooring? Hmm…that’s something I have to think about yet.

Ps: Don’t you just LOVE this Treasury? The linen color is really getting me.

Addictive Treasuries

I was going to work on another Poster Sketch this evening, but I couldn’t remember if I had posted this one before! I just love the colors and items in this Sketch! I’m working on a new one and of course will be trying to get it into a Treasury, so keep checking back!

Love This:

Screen Shots

In Uncategorized on August 1, 2008 at 3:00 pm

For some reason I just love screen shots. Not sure why really, it might be the collection of similar but completely different items…common colors…yeah, not really sure! Here’s a fave of mine from the main page of Etsy.

It was created by The Paira Birds, a SUPER fascinating store on Etsy with really intriguing art work.

Do you normally browse through the Treasuries? I don’t, I love them but I don’t take the time to browse through the lists of created ones. Every now and then, when I have a free couple of seconds, I look at one or two and leave my comments…but that’s not too often.

I really should look more though, because every time I do, I find something inspiring. Usually “inspiring” means “another project I’d like to try”, but that never hurt anyone, did it? (:

Speaking of inspiring: I’m going to have a big load of picture in the next couple days…not of my items but something else super beautiful I found last weekend. Wait for it!

Goccoing

In crafts, etsy, selling, store on July 23, 2008 at 7:00 pm

I accomplished a couple of my goals last night, I cut out several Kj Bags (with new pocket designs!) and then worked on my Gocco printing. I haven’t done Gocco for a while so it was really exciting getting back into it! I was so bummed when I wasted two bulbs (they’re only good for one time) by loading the screen and blue filter wrong. Dang it!

I bundled the finished cards into groups of six and I’ll be selling them at the Farmers Market this weekend. I’m not sure if this is something I’ll continue doing, but it’s just a fun project I wanted to try out. I’d like to screen-print some paper for this type of thing eventually, but that won’t be for a little while. I think it’ll end up being more affordable though.

I think I’m going to price the cards at $10.00 for each set. That makes it only $1.67 per card, which I think is a huge deal for something handmade. You can’t buy generic cards for that much!
