Mug Shots

In crafts, etsy on September 19, 2008 at 3:00 pm

I got the camera working! Well, sort of (: I have to turn it off after every picture, then back on again for the next shot. Not great, but at least I can take pictures…kinda.

The flowers on this mug are the ones I sketched for the last Gocco cards I made. I tried them again on this mug and a few friends have suggested I make a series around these images.

The picture above and the picture below are both the same mug. It reads “you look amazing today” and has a tea bag drawn into the mug with the tab “hanging” outside. Sometimes a girl just needs a cup of tea and a reminder that she looks great!

I made another one for my sister that says “Love is the best pick-me-up, but coffee with do for now”. It suites her perfectly (:

I’m planning on making quite a few more of these mugs and selling them at the craft fair this November. I need to find a hanger to display them on…Salvation Army should have a good one. I’ll paint it a funky color, red or orange, I’m thinking. I still need to look for a hanger for the bags, maybe I should go to the Army this afternoon.

While I’m thinking of this: What is everyone thinking about the new theme (the background) here on the KJ Blog? I like it, although there’s a couple things I need to work on (the blogroll has disappeared!) but I’d like to know what my readers are thinking! Let me know!

New Site!

In etsy on September 12, 2008 at 8:00 pm

Have you ever heard of Fred Flare dot com? I just found it through the Featured Artist on Etsy. It’s a really cute site with cool items of all sorts (: Take a peek! I haven’t quite figured out if it’s all handmade items…or what the site is about exactly, but there’s super awesome stuff on it!

Speaking of the Featured Artist on Etsy…when am I going to get to be on there? (: It’s a goal: One of these days I’ll be the featured artist.

ETSY NEWS: I sold TWO bags on Etsy the other night. Two. To the same buyer (: Yay!! Hopefully sales are picking up! My goal is to have steady sales on the net during the winter and focus on the markets in the summer. That way I’ll have a good income coming in constantly.

Another new bag to come this afternoon!

PS: Also, check out great Flickr artist. Holy. Crap. Love it!

Oops I Did it Again!

In etsy on September 6, 2008 at 8:01 pm

I guess I have an excuse: We did end up going camping last night so I was keeping myself busy with getting ready rather than blogging (:

So here’s Feature Friday…just on Saturday.

It’s SJane today (: Their catch line is so catchy: “Cute Stuff”. I love SJanes cartoon characters, in every shape and form. From stickers, hand carved stamps, toys and felt badges…all of them are so freaking adorable!! I should get some stickers to decorate my sewing machine!

Feature Friday!

I’m not sure if this is a normal tradition or not, but for get togethers / parties / Christmas, I love to give a bottle of wine to the host or hostess. It’s just a way to say thanks. It’d be an ever BIGGER thanks to give wine in these great Wine Pockets!

And you know those ugly, generic glasses cases you get from the optometrist? Yeah. Dull. But theeeese glasses holders are anything BUT generic OR ugly!

All of these creations are made by Space Moderne, another great Etsy shop. If you’re thinking of buying gifts for the host of an upcoming party, family or yourself Space Moderne will help you out!

Goal #2: Accomplished

In Uncategorized on July 19, 2008 at 3:00 pm

I had three goals this week:

  1. To try a new modge podge technique
  2. To sew several more Zippies and
  3. To crochet a hat for my neice / nephew (not born yet!)

I’ve now accomplished my #1 and #2 goals! Yay! I posted an entry with pictures of my newest attempt at covering a journalwith modge podge (Goal #1) and here’s #2:

Sigh. It feels good to get this list crossed off, even if it was small.

Feature Friday – Bird Brain!

In Uncategorized on July 18, 2008 at 3:00 pm

This weeks Feature is Bird Brain Creations. They’re new to Etsy (only 20 days!) and have already sold two items…something I think is a great start!

Bird Brain’s items are super fun, colorful and exotic. They’d make either a great gift or an item to tie in the decorations of your bathroom or kitchen sink.

There’s two things I love best about this store: 1) The awesome colors of the soaps and 2) their labeling. The tags are so natural looking, but also professional and modern. They’re simple too, which contrasts nicely with the bright and in-your-face items.

I can just tell, this is one of those Etsy companies that’s just going to make it big and make it big fast!

Need a New Craft?

In blog, crafts, etsy, seller, sellers, selling, store, stores on July 13, 2008 at 8:00 pm

Apparently I do. I dont’ really…but my brain is always forcing me to spend more money and learn new things. Dang you, brain!

I was going through my blogroll when I peeked into Erin Zam’s blog. I always love her entries but this one was even more inspiring. If you’re looking to start or try out a new craft technique, this is the entry to get you started. Check out her Etsy store while you’re in the clicky mood!

Feature Friday!

In crafts, etsy, seller, sellers, selling, store, stores on July 4, 2008 at 3:00 pm

It’s the end of another week, another BEAUTIFUL week here in BC. Finally it feels like summer here!!

This weeks feature is Dayler, a great stop for unique wallets. Really, you aren’t going to find these anywhere else…just Dayler. They’d be great as gifts or something to funk up your packpocket. I know a few boys who’d just love the gun wallet and my sister would fall head over heels for the Aaron Kraten one.

Dayler’s products suite just about every style. You know those hard to buy for teens? This is the gift they want. Trust me. It’s the “in” thing. Why not stuff a few bills in there while you’re at it, kids can always use money.

My Escape

In The Shed on June 17, 2008 at 2:00 pm

My sister and brother in law have been storing their household items in our shed until they get into their own house. That time is now! Their house is finally ready for them to start moving things into it and even though I’m super excited for them, I’m also super excited to have our shed back.

I’ve had this huge dream to transform this shed into my creative escape. It’s a big shed, probably about 15’x15’…maybe a bit bigger. It’s going to have to store a few odd items in it (like tires, car parts etc) but for the most part, I’m going to claim it as mine. The hubby gets a huge shop to do his “crafts” in, I should be able to have my own shop too!

Here’s my plan:

  • Paint the floor white
  • Make long curtains to cover the walls (it will be just as much for paint, I figure, but will make it more homey and warm feeling). I know I won’t be able to afford the fabric that I linked too…at least not for the walls, but that’s the look I’ll be going for (:
  • I’m going to make my own sewing table from saw horses, a 4×8 sheet of Good 1 Side, and ceiling tile (you can pin right into the table to make your cuts just perfect!!). I’ll cover the tile with a canvas type material and staple it down.
  • I need a couch in there for guests
  • Bookshelves
  • A couple of drawer units
  • Some baskets
  • A rug
  • I’ll need an electric fireplace for the winter months and of course electricity, which I’ll have the trusty husband work on

I’m SO excited to get working on my shed! It’s going to take a year or two to get it to the final stage but it’s worth the wait. I just can’t wait to get started!

I’ll be posting pictures of our reno’s on the shed so check back to see our progress!
