I really beginning to love this style of art! It’s modern and unusual, but it looks pretty realistic at the same time. You can almost feel those soft wisps of hair and there’s emotion behind her eyes.

Laura Suis an Etsy artist (of course, what other type of artist do I ever feature here?) that’s new to my growing list of Hearted sellers. There’s a few more great pieces of work in her shop so check it out! Annnd, if you’re looking for even more Favorites, take a peek into her Hearted items.

My newest “I Want”.

Monday Again…

In Uncategorized on April 6, 2009 at 4:02 pm

This past weekend was a big one! We rushed towards Edmonton and camped in the car half way, driving the rest of the way on Friday. The plan was to spend the day (we had heard that it was a 3 hour wait) in the passport office and then drive home that afternoon. Lucky for us, we only waited 45 minutes in total. Once our paperwork went through, a HUGE burden was lifted off of my shoulders. SIGH OF RELIEF!

Now we can just enjoy the rest of the planning for our trip to England (and Paris!).

Sights to see:

I’m really looking forward to all these sites, but also, just spending time with the family and relaxing at my Granddads farm is going to be a treat. There’s french doors leading onto a small stone deck and I can’t wait to sit there with a cup of tea and look out into the fields. It’s sad that Granddad won’t be there, and I’m sure it will be an emotional adjustment for me, but it’ll be nice to be back.

And my bookstore. Sigh. MY BOOKSTORE! My heart literally starts to beat faster when I think about it!

Ok. Stop daydreaming. Back to real life.

This weekend was very productive! I had an Arbonne party on Saturday afternoon which went great! One girl booked a party in a town five hours away so I’ll be going there this weekend. Totally out of my comfort zone, but I’m still excited!

Then sunday I filled my afternoon with Gocco’ing, which I’ll be sharing later and updating the shop with asap.

Happy Monday!

Anyone been on Etsy this morning? This shirt was featured on the front page Treasury and I knew I had to feature it today! Rainbow Swirlz is an uber cute Etsy shop…I’m in love with their great banner…and of course all their items in the shop. Yep, all of them! I’m SO going to be shopping in this store for my little sisters birthday, a perfect gift for a 15 year old I think.

Also, speaking of great things for teens, has anyone seen Twilight yet?? (What a dumb question, probably the majority of you have!) I saw it last night for the first time and it was AMAZING! I didn’t think I would like it, but it was great! I highly suggest it…even as a date movie…I think the guys would like it too!

See TWITTER for my quote of the day.

Golden Rectangle

invitations

I really wish I was getting married all over again…these invitations by Golden Rectangle on Etsy are SO fantastic! I love the bohemian feel to both of them, and there’s even more in the store that are different from these. The colors too…very old-school-become-new-again. Maybe what I need to do is become a hand writing addict and get my own stationary…as if I don’t have enough things to do!

This bottom one is my fave. I love the little birds and their branches, it’s so simple and cute!

“I look good. I mean real good. Hey everyone, come and see how good I look!”. (A quote, from Ron Burgandy…not really what I think of myself. But I sure do think my shop looks nice!).

Finally Doing it!

Well, I’ve found the needle nose pliers, which is hopefully the tool I need to make a necklace (who knows, but I’ll try it and see how it goes).

See the yellow beads? I made them! They turned out pretty good, they may need a varnish of some sort, another something I have to try out.

The hubby is working tonight so I’ll be busy watching a movie and trying out some jewelry making. Oh! And I bought a bunch of beads today off of Etsy. I love getting parcels in the mail (probably half the reason I order off of Etsy!) so I can’t wait till they arrive!

Finding Deals

I went shopping while we were away for the weekend and found these great beads. Actually, they’re necklaces…but being an Etsy seller, I see what I could make out of them (: And to make them even better, they were on sale for $2.00 a necklace, ANNNND then Buy One Get One Free. Talk about a deal!

I’m going to be trying out jewelry making as soon as I can find those needle nose pliers…

Set Sail

I’ve always loved pirates and dream about being a she-pirate, sailing the seven seas for deadly treasury. These dreams stem from the stories my dad would tell us kids when we were little, pirate mice, badgers and foxes sword fighting and hunting for their booty.

I just LOVE this necklace by Flight Path Designs, perfect for a secret pirate wanna-be like meself. And to add to the awesomeness of this piece, it’s placed on leather…talk about a genuine feel. With a sequined fitted white top, black jeans and tall leather boots, you’ll live the pirate life inside and the gorgeous life on the outside.

I brought a few samples of fabric to a friend to see if any of them were something she wanted. She chose this one and I was so excited to get going on it. Even though I was busy renovating our bedroom this weekend, I just had to make time to create this bag. The friend who requested this bag is expecting a baby in June and wanted the purse to double as a diaper bag.

Instead of using nylon straps, I finally had a chance to use the rucksack-like ones I ordered off of ebay ages ago. I sewed the top centre of the straps into tighter sections, which made them easier to sit on shoulders.

I’ve been adding new items to the shop! These mugs were so much fun to make, I can’t wait to make more! I would have gone to get more mugs today, but we were busy painting our bedroom (yay!).

I’ve also been busy sewing another bag today! This one was ordered from a girl at my old job, so it won’t be going into the shop. It’s so good to be back in the sewing room! It’s been a while, and it feels good to be creating more bags. There WILL be more in the shop soon, it’s going to be hard to stop sewing now that I’ve started. I’ll be posting pictures of the new bag asap. I’m really impressed with how it’s turning it out!
