I brought a few samples of fabric to a friend to see if any of them were something she wanted. She chose this one and I was so excited to get going on it. Even though I was busy renovating our bedroom this weekend, I just had to make time to create this bag. The friend who requested this bag is expecting a baby in June and wanted the purse to double as a diaper bag.
Instead of using nylon straps, I finally had a chance to use the rucksack-like ones I ordered off of ebay ages ago. I sewed the top centre of the straps into tighter sections, which made them easier to sit on shoulders.

I’m in love with this Etsy store, Of Paper and Thread. The fabric in Danielle’s shop is all her own design (so awesome!) and I’m really loving the colors and prints. I also read Danielle’s blog and love all her entries, all about the her creative process and things she loves!

I finished another bag last night (: I love this fabric and I’ve made the handles a little bit different again. I tied the knot on the rope handles inbetwene the lining and the outer shell so you can’t even see it. There’s also two zippered pockets on either side of the bag. The handle is long enough that you can wear it messenger style too!

Yippee!! It’s finally Saturday! More sewing for me (: I’m planning on getting up a bit early since Hubby will be getting up early too. That’ll give me a good head start on more bags and hopefully a chance to work on my other blog!

Here’s another new bag I was working on last night (: My hubby likes this one better than the nautical bags I made in this style. I really like the handle on this bag, it’s super comfy and fits really well under your shoulder.
I’m going to have to take more pictures with the white background, I really like it!

The newest addition to the KJ collection (: A woman at the Farmers Market last weekend told me her daughter in law loved browns and she was wanting a bag of mine for her. She was thinking brown floral, but since I already had this fabric I’m hoping it’s something she would like.

I put button closures on the pockets, which I think adds a cute look.

Annnnd! I added a zippered pocket on the inside of the bag, something I’m really proud about!! I’ve never done a zipper like this and I think it’s the perfect touch to the Kj Bags. I’ll be doing it in all of them from here on.
I have a few more dreams for my Kj Bags, such as adding adjustable straps and O rings at the base of the handles. I really have to think about things before I add them to my bags. I like to make sure they’ll look good and figure out the “how-to” in my head before I start trying.
I love this bag…I really wish I could keep it for myself!

What’s a sewers worst nightmare? There could be several of them I guess, machine breaking, just about finished a project and you get a stain in the middle…guess what happened to me last night. My scissors broke, right in the middle of a project. Yeah, just snapped in half. SICK!
I was able to finish with the house scissors, but they were totally crap. Guess I have to spend some money today.
I can’t wait for my sister to come in a couple weeks. Not only am I super excited to see her…but she’s bringing me fabric!!! YAY!

Looks like I have more projects to work on! I received the Amy Butler fabric and some Gocco bulbs in the mail this morning (: YAY!! I’ve been wanting to try out some more stuff with my Gocco but haven’t had any bulbs! I can’t wait to do up some cards to sell at the Farmers Market this weekend! And that fabric…doesn’t it just leave you speechless?? It’s so beautiful I can’t stop staring at it!
Did I tell you I went on a fabric shopping spree this weekend? Well, I did. I thought there was still a huge sale at Fabric Land so I traveled two hours to go to one…and it turned out the sale was over. But being the bargain shopper I am, I still managed to stay within my budget and find some great fabrics. These fabrics were still on sale, but just not the amazing 50-70% off that I was hoping for.
I’ll be making these fabrics into bags starting tonight (no matter how tired I am!) and selling them at the Farmers Market this weekend! I can’t wait!!

Yesterday I went on a shopping spree…Just a little one, but one that made me feel GREAT (girls, you know what I mean right?). I bought some really great Amy Butler fabric:

And some awesome pink linen to line it:

I’m also looking for some hook/clasps for my new pattern….I’ll be able to go ahead with it when I get my grommet press and I can’t wait!! I’m going to be doing an entirely different style bag with a nice snug handle made from webbing (a new word I just learned yesterday:). I’m really excited to get onto this project and can’t wait to receive my grommet press.
I’ve also been looking into getting pro business cards done. I don’t mind the ones I make for myself, but it’d be great to have some professional looking ones both in finish and design. I’ve been pricing out a few Etsy businesses, but so far Apples and Chalk Dust looks like the best bet.

I found a new favorite shop on Etsy and have ordered new fabric from her. They’re SO CUTE! The pink japanese linen fabric is from Milco Tiger Favorite. Even though she’s located in Japan, the shipping was super fast…I got the package within the next week!
The other fabric I found from a store on Ebay, I just couldn’t say no!
I have this serious attraction to colorful and bright fabrics lately! I’m hoping this is a good thing. I used to be attracted to fall colors, probably because these colors are what I normally wear.
I’ll be posting more pictures of my projects with these fabrics and others! I’ll be working my buns off this week since I’m planning on going to the Farmers Market! SO EXCITED!
