I’m Featured!

In Uncategorized on October 21, 2008 at 9:18 pm

A fellow Etsy seller, Julie Christie, contacted me the other day to let me know I was in her Treasury! Thanks so much Julie (:  I really really love it that my bag was apart of this Treasury!

Supa Yana is the Etsy Feature Artisttoday…I “met” her via myspace way back when and have admired her work ever since. Actually, I guess you could say she was the artist that inspired me to pursue my love for sewing…I started off trying to make tops but when that didn’t go over so well, I started on my bags. I saw how she sold online and it really encouraged me to go after that resource.

Dear Liberty…

You featured my Etsy store and blog on your blog the other day and I just loved it! Thanks so much for thinking of me and linking to my stuff…I really can’t believe you think I’m “insanely talented”. That’s such a huge compliment!

To answer your question of how I achieve my photography: I have no idea! Really. I have this crap camera that hardly ever focuses properly, the lens doesn’t shut properly, it’s chipped and scratched and only cost $100.00 from WalMart. Half the time I have to take hundreds of photographs and still only end up with maaaaaybe one that will do. I guess if I was to say I had a “trick”, it’d be Picasa. It’s a photo altering and storage system that you can download for free and I use it to enhance my pictures, make them more sharp or add funky features to them. But it’s all the computer. Hopefully soon I’ll be getting a new camera, my hubby and I were just talking about getting it as a joint Christmas gift for ourselves…

Thanks for your advice, too! I’m trying to put into practice what you’ve said and hopefully my blog will become more successful because of it! Thanks (:

Screen Shots

In Uncategorized on August 1, 2008 at 3:00 pm

For some reason I just love screen shots. Not sure why really, it might be the collection of similar but completely different items…common colors…yeah, not really sure! Here’s a fave of mine from the main page of Etsy.

It was created by The Paira Birds, a SUPER fascinating store on Etsy with really intriguing art work.

Do you normally browse through the Treasuries? I don’t, I love them but I don’t take the time to browse through the lists of created ones. Every now and then, when I have a free couple of seconds, I look at one or two and leave my comments…but that’s not too often.

I really should look more though, because every time I do, I find something inspiring. Usually “inspiring” means “another project I’d like to try”, but that never hurt anyone, did it? (:

Speaking of inspiring: I’m going to have a big load of picture in the next couple days…not of my items but something else super beautiful I found last weekend. Wait for it!

Have you ever heard of this site? I just saw it featured on Etsy as a buyer…they find artists on Etsy which is a cool concept in itself. BUT take a look at their site! There’s SO MANY fricken awesome t’s. I think this is my favorite one so far. EVEN better is the fact that you can submit your own art work for their review. The Threadless community then votes on your submission and if your T is chosen as one of their next designs, you can win C.A.S.H.

Just what we’re all looking for eh? (Yeah, I said “eh”, gotta problem with that? Bring it.)

Having Fun

This morning I woke up an hour early to a beautiful (!) sunny, warm day. Being the rep for a local radio station (through the entrepreneur centre) I had been asked to attend a Kiwanis Club meeting. Tim Hortons was super busy so I bi-passed the coffee and went straight to the meeting. Good thing too, they had great coffee and an omelet and sausage waiting for me. Yum!

The meeting was possibly the most off the wall thing I’ve ever attended. Just a bunch of really old guys a) trying to plan a party b) cracking seriously corney jokes and c) handing out scratch and win tickets. No joke. It was like I was sitting on a movie set where they exaggerated the antics of elderly people. Funny!! They’ve asked me to join the Club and I’m going to think about it! For one, they need fresh blood in there, and for another, they’re all so funny and sweet! It’d be a great way to rub shoulders with the elderly business men of our community, which means more ads for the radio station and great connections.

I’m listening to Celine Dion while I’m working today. It’s going to be a full and BEAUTIFUL day!

Make sure you check out the latest Featured Seller on etsy! I always find these articles really interesting, esspecially how they promote themselves and the advise they give to other sellers.
