M. Hmmmmmm

In Uncategorized on April 9, 2009 at 3:00 pm

I love to write. If you haven’t seen that yet…I love it, I just never find time to do it, other than in the KJ Blog. So when I stumbled on M. Writes, I felt like I had found home. “Home” as in: a comfortable place that encourages me to do what I love. Write. Right.

So today, I’m making the time to do the Writers Group prompt. And just so you know what I’m talking about, I’m posting Marta’s questions and then my answers…just so it makes sense.

01. what accomplishments are you proud of? write about the times you put your best self into action.

There are so many things I’m proud of, it’s hard to find which one…or “ones”…that I should write about.

I’m proud of me knowing who I am and what I believe in.

I’m proud of finishing Grade 12 with more credits than I needed and working full time at the same time.

I’m proud that I found the right man, married him, and that I’m now in the process of becoming the controlling woman he calls “Wife”. Ha. Joking. I am proud that I found and married him though.

I’m proud of who God’s molded me into, as a woman, as a wife, as a friend, as a creative person.

02. make a list of your dreams. big ones and small ones. describe them in detail. line them up in the dugout, let them play ball.

  1. Travel to England. This is one of my goals to accomplish before we start having kids. And guess what! It’s happening this Spring! Our families are super happy that we’re going…because they think that it means we’ll start having kids soon…
  2. Climb the Eiffel Tower. I’ve always wanted to do this, ever since I was a kid. And I’m going to accomplish it this Spring! Woo!
  3. Start Karate. I just have this urge to do Karate. It looks like a great work out and self defense is always good for us girls to learn. There’s a few excuses as to why I haven’t started yet, but really, they’re little and I should just do it.
  4. Fully replace my income with Arbonne. I’m working on this one! It’s completely do-able. My upline and many girls I know have done this and a few of them even own their Mercedes too!
  5. Work from home. I dont’ want to go back to work after we have kids, but I know that in the world we’re living in, it’s hard to live off of just one income. And because I don’t mind working, this is something I know I need to do.
  6. Write a novel…or two…or three. I had started a couple stories that were working their way into novels, but I lost them. I need to start over again…time…give me time…
  7. Have a successful blog. Really, there’s so many definitions to “successful”. My definition is that I would like to have 200 daily readers.
  8. Have frequent sales in my Etsy store. This is one of my “work from home strategies”. It’s all in patience and determination and I’m slowly working towards this goal.
  9. Be open minded.
  10. Be happy. Attitude is everything. Focusing on happy things brings positive feelings, whether you start out feeling positive or not.
  11. To make my husband happy.

03. your days are your sonnets. but are they really? are you living your dream or your nightmare? write down your daily routine. now write down your dream daily routine. how many items match up? are you being truly present in your daily life? are you simply going through the motions? list ways to create a more meaningful existence.

Daily Routine:

  • Wake up at 7.
  • Shower.
  • Scarf down cereal or protein shake.
  • Drive to work.
  • Lunch Break.
  • Drive home.
  • Eat lunch.
  • Drive to work.
  • End of the day.
  • Go to the gym / Go home to make dinner.
  • Arbonne Party.

Dream Daily Routine:

  • Wake up at 9.
  • Make tea.
  • Drink tea while blogging.
  • Shower.
  • Make lunch.
  • Mail purchased Etsy items.
  • Prepare Arbonne items for Party.
  • Have coffee with potential Arbonne Consultant.
  • Do Arbonne Party.
  • Go home.
  • Make popcorn.
  • Watch Castle.
  • Go to bed.

Yeah…so apparently I’m not present in real life. It’s not what I want to be doing at all, not what I should be doing. Not what I enjoy doing. So true. So true.

How to Create More Meaningful Existence:

– Work hard at Arbonne! Go for the Gold! My upline says that Arbonne is like College…only after 4 years you’ll be able to retire instead of just getting into the workforce. If I work as hard as I would in college, I’ll be more than on my way to success!

– Work hard at Etsy! Post items frequently, promote, create, just get out there! The more I put myself out there, the more I’m working towards a successful etsy shop!

– Make my husband work harder so I can stay at home NOW! Hehe.

Round and Round

Well, the world just keeps going ’round and ’round! It’s amazing to me that I still have so many constant readers ever after neglecting them for a little while. Thanks guys, you’re awesome!

I used to be so worried about my readership, always trying to get a certain amount per day etc, but I just don’t have time for that now! And even though I’m not posting links here and there, I still have new readers coming in and older constant ones still stickin’ around! It’s awesome!

Well, today is FRIDAY! Thank goodness!! I need some rest, a few days to sleep in and just relax will be awesome.

Just looking through Etsy and found these great necklace charms from Anne Kiel Jewelry. I love the colors! You can use one of them, or several on a necklace…either way, it’s an adorable piece!!

These awesome earrings are made by Amalia Versaci out of vintage zippers! Her work was featured on the front page Treasuryon Etsy…lucky duck!!

So this month has had it’s ups and downs.

In the middle of September, I made a goal to guest blog twice per month. I just about made that goal in September! Yay! I guest blogged at Twiddle Stix and Corner Lot Creations…although I was a bit slow in getting the post to Cherie at Corner Lot and it was posted today (October 1st). I’m still going to count the post as a September post though (because I’m the boss and I can :).

For my weekly goals, last week was a bit short. The Kj Blog received 267 views last week, a shortfall from my  goal of 350, but I’m so excited about doing the Guest posts that I’m not too concerned (:

I’m still looking for a couple more Guest Posts to do for October! If you’re interested, please email me @ katelynjane.etsy@hotmail.com or convo me through my Etsy Shop and we’ll talk!

Guest Blogging!

In blog, etsy on September 29, 2008 at 3:25 pm

As you might know, my new goal for this blog is to Guest Blog two times per month. I contacted a couple of my favorite blogs in order to see if they’d have room for an entry from me and the first one is up this morning!

Go on over to Twiddlestix blog and see what I had to say about getting your Etsy shop ready for the Christmas season! Remember to leave comments!

I have a couple more guest blog entries to work on today, I’ll be busy busy!

By the way, I received my business cards a while ago and just haven’t been able to take a good picture of them (stupid camera!). Here’s what they look like though, and I’m pretty pleased with them!

Goals – Phhhh!

In Uncategorized on September 27, 2008 at 12:00 am

Goals shmoles. Bah.

Last week (and this week so far) have been a bit of a bummer. Not that I don’t fully appreciate everyone’s visits and comments and love, I just wish my promoting had paid off a bit more.

Last Weeks Views: 273. 77 off of the goal of 350 views.

I really need to find another blogging site that I can promote my blog at. I’ve tried Entrecard and Blogcatalog and I do get a few views from them, but because I can’t put their avatar on this blog, I don’t think I’m getting quite the response that I couldbe getting. I need another site that I can go to, become involved in the community, make friends and post links. Preferably, without having to earn points and post an avatar on the blog.

I’m wondering if Urbis has anything for blogs…I’ll have to check that out.

For all those writers reading, Urbis is a GREAT resource for you! You post clips of a novel or short story you’re working, a screenplay or poem…anything that you’re writing…and other members critique you. This site does involve points too, but it’s so much “easier” (and constructive) to earn them.

Here’s hoping for next weeks views!

Guest Blogging

In Uncategorized on September 26, 2008 at 4:44 pm

Just a plug for myself (: I’ve picked up one Guest Blog spot this month (I’ll be linking to it on Monday when it’s posted!) and I’m still hoping for another one!

If you think you’d like an extra entry on your blog, let me know! I’d love to write up something for you! We have a few more days in September and I’d like to have to Guest Blogs under my belt by the end of the month. Please contact me if you’re interested, either through my Etsy Shop or you can email me at katelynjane.etsy@hotmail.com.

This past week’s of goal-meeting wasn’t that great. Like most of you know, my goal is to make 350 views per week (that’s 50 views per day). Last week, I made 276 views…not great…

I’ve always noticed that nearer to the end of the week, the KJ Blog doesn’t receive as many views and this was the case last week. I think it’s because people start realizing the weekend is coming and they need to get work done. The beginning of the week had been great, steady views which is always encouraging to see.

Seems like I need to find just one more site to promote my blog at.

I’ve also decided to make more goals for myself. But just one for so I don’t get overwhelmed:

  1. 2 Guest Blog posts a month. So if you’re looking for a guest blogger, let me know!

There’ll be more goals coming up, like I said on my other blog…I’ve made a goal to make a goal (:

Goals – The Last 2 Weeks

In etsy on September 3, 2008 at 7:02 pm

Goals Goals Goals!

So lets start with the week before last. I had a great week that week, seriously. Awesome!! A total of 708 views, which was mind blowing! A lot of it had to do with my features that week. Several successful Etsy sellers shared their financial experiences with my readers and were able to help a bunch of us our with their advice and stories.

Also that week, several of my fave bloggers stopped by to give their advice in blogging.

It was a great week!

And now to last week. Another good week, consistant and that’s always a bonus. The KJ Blog received 374 views which is 24 above my goal of 350! I loved looking at my stats and seeing them consistantly around the 50 views per day. Just what I’m looking for!

More to come today!! I finished another bag last night so there’ll be pictures!

Another week has passed and life on the KJ Blog seems to be getting better!! Within the past week I featured blog entries on money managing techniquesfrom successful Etsy artists, as well as Blogging Techniques with opinions and comments from successful bloggers.

There’s a trend I’ve noticed: When I post entries on “How-To”, the views always shoot way up. I love reading them on other blogs, “how-to promote”, “how-to sell”…so I figured I would do more of that on my blog. Guess what, it up’ed my views with minimal promotions. A really cool thing to see!!

My views for this past week got up to 399 without me really trying that hard!

Goal for Blog:

  • To have more “how-to” entries!

Ps: That lady is coming to the house tonight to look at my new bags…which reminds me I have yet to show you my newest rendition of the KJ Bag!!…hopefully I’ll make a sale or two! Cross your fingers (:
