We’re finally getting to the part of our kitchen expansion that I can be more involved with (will I regret saying that? Most likely…): The decorating!

The walls are drywalled and ready to be mudded and taped, which means that painting will soon be upon us, and then installing the flooring. Since this also means that within a few weeks (cross your fingers) I’ll be hanging curtains and recovering our kitchen chairs, I’m looking for options.

I’ve always loved these colors together, and since I saw it in a couple weddings on the Style Me Pretty Blog, I’ve been wanting to incorporate the colors into my home. If I can’t get married again, why not use in the home decor? Haha!

I’m going to be talking with my interior design friend to see if these fabrics would look good with the wall color I’ve picked out, and what she thinks about having them all together. Maybe a bit much? What are your thoughts?

The dresses came in!!!

They’re two weeks early, which is fantastic! We couldnt’ believe it…And they fit perfectly, the quality is amazing. They are exactly what we thought they would be, which is really saying something when you’re ordering them from a web site and really have no idea what you’re getting.

But we’re so happy they’re in and that worry is off of our shoulders!

Don’t mind the green color in this photo, I think the olive background made it look “off”, but they’re really a deep forest green.

I highly recommend buying from Lightinthebox.com. Highly.

Oh, and yes, they’re a bit long, but we’ll be getting them hemmed. We ordered them with more length just in case…longer is better than shorter!

It’s My Party (and I’ll cry if I want to…)

And I’m asking for:

belt

Fosterweld Belt (to go with my awesome belt buckle from last year!)

napkins

Napkins for my kitchen table when the kitchen is finally finished. This colour would be perrrrfect.

quilt

The spare room needs a color scheme, this might be it…LOVE this quilt!!

Solved

The Mystery of the Bridesmaid Dresses has been solved! We’ve found a super deal on bridesmaid dresses at Light In The Box.com. The reviews on the site seemed excellent and the dresses are exactly what my sister was looking for. Other than the color…we went with a dark green instead of the sage she was initially going for. But that’s ok! It’s going to go great with her decor and the winter feeling of the celebration.

I wish I could include a picture, but the photo isn’t saving properly. Click on the link  to see the exact dress.

The dresses will arrive two weeks before my sisters wedding, so if there’s any issues hopefully that will be enough time to make everything right.

Problem solved. Weight lifted. Phewf.

Addictive Treasuries

I was going to work on another Poster Sketch this evening, but I couldn’t remember if I had posted this one before! I just love the colors and items in this Sketch! I’m working on a new one and of course will be trying to get it into a Treasury, so keep checking back!

You know those girls that have all the “perfect mother dreams” before they actually become a mother? That’s me. Well, not totally, I have a realistic point of view of motherhood since I’m the oldest of 8 kids and had to put up with them screaming all night etc. but when it comes to DOING things for my kids, that’s where I get a bit dreamy.

I want to put my babies in cloth diapers, feed them fresh veggies from my garden (gotta work on this one, still can’t seem to make my veggies live!), sew clothes for them, and allow them to be “cool” kids without letting them get all wrapped up in that image.

For a while there I thought there was no way I’d be able to put them in cloth diapers, for one thing…where do I get them from?? Duh, ETSY! I stumbled across Green Way Babywear and found my answer!

Green Way provides cute and practical cloth diapers as well as knit coverups (how funky, hey??). Not only do they look so adorable, they’re totally practical and beat those pokey-not-so-comfortable plasticy coverups that are sold in the big stores. And, if you live in the freaking cold north like I do, they have LONGIES!

Check out the Green Way Babywear shop for their pricing and more products and for super cute baby pictures (:

Green Grass

In Uncategorized on May 16, 2008 at 4:23 pm

Last night I tried to garden…I walked around the yard, hoping to find something to weed, something to get my hands dirty. Nothing. In our area, the veteran gardeners don’t suggest to plant your garden before the May Long weekend, so I can’t plant anything yet.

I ended up planting some Basil to grow in the house, grabbing my book and camera and laying on the grass for a while. Cobes thought I was playing, why else would I lay on the ground??, and would sporadically come and pounce on me or lick my face as she walked by. She finally settled down and chewed her twig while I relaxed, soaking up the sun and feeling the grass on my feet.

I’m so releived it summer! It feels so good to have the sun beating down and the yard looks so fresh and green and bright! I just can’t wait until after this weekend when I’ll plant my Foxgloves, Hollyhocks, Peonies, Lupins and hopefully a few Hydrangea trees (trees? or shrubs?).

The last picture of Cobie shows off her big ears…”Cobie – Bat Dog!”.

Q: What are your summer weekend plans?
