Can I Just Say…

In Uncategorized on September 15, 2008 at 3:22 pm

That I had a crap weekend. I did. It was awful, everything that could go wrong with my sewing did…I sewed a bag for my hubby’s Grandma and it has to have been the most frustrating thing I’ve ever sewn. The thread was constantly breaking, the pattern wasn’t matching up for some reason, the needle bent once and broke another time…the list goes on. I didn’t even take any pictures, as soon as it was done I gave it to her to get it out of my sight (:

The rest of the weekend didn’t go any better, nothing was going my way (not that I’m spoiled!) and by last night I felt completely unaccomplished and bored. I couldn’t wait to get back to work today!

At least that means that I’m enjoying a Monday at work though!

I’ll be posting more today, I just had to get this off my chest (:

More Projects

I finished another bag last night (: I love this fabric and I’ve made the handles a little bit different again. I tied the knot on the rope handles inbetwene the lining and the outer shell so you can’t even see it. There’s also two zippered pockets on either side of the bag. The handle is long enough that you can wear it messenger style too!

Yippee!! It’s finally Saturday! More sewing for me (: I’m planning on getting up a bit early since Hubby will be getting up early too. That’ll give me a good head start on more bags and hopefully a chance to work on my other blog!

New Site!

In etsy on September 12, 2008 at 8:00 pm

Have you ever heard of Fred Flare dot com? I just found it through the Featured Artist on Etsy. It’s a really cute site with cool items of all sorts (: Take a peek! I haven’t quite figured out if it’s all handmade items…or what the site is about exactly, but there’s super awesome stuff on it!

Speaking of the Featured Artist on Etsy…when am I going to get to be on there? (: It’s a goal: One of these days I’ll be the featured artist.

ETSY NEWS: I sold TWO bags on Etsy the other night. Two. To the same buyer (: Yay!! Hopefully sales are picking up! My goal is to have steady sales on the net during the winter and focus on the markets in the summer. That way I’ll have a good income coming in constantly.

Another new bag to come this afternoon!

PS: Also, check out great Flickr artist. Holy. Crap. Love it!

Projects and Wants

I want this necklace, I should really just buy it and stop craving it…maybe next pay cheque. It’s just so awesome, I can’t get enough of it! Check out LF Jewelry Designs for more of their great work (:

Last night I was working on the bags again, I just about finished another one, but still have to get supplies for the handles. I’ll be doing another bag tonight too. I’m trying to complete a bag a night, I figure that’ll get me ahead in stock quite a bit.

I just found out that the craft fair I’ve applied to participate is happening on November 23rd this year. It’s only $15.00 for a table and apparently it’s supposed to be a very successful event. My plan is to attend two fairs this winter, I think that’s enough to get my feet wet and not get overwhelmed.

AND because the fair is on the 23rd this year (instead of the 29th), hubby and I are able to go to a Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks hockey game in Calgary (: YAY!! It’ll be my first live NHL game, we watch them on TV all the time and I’m SO PUMPED!!! I want to get a jersey too…and beer…and I’ll be cheering my guts off!! So excited!! 😀

Camping and Wine

Have you ever noticed that weekends seem longer when you do something on Friday nights? This past Friday, hubby and I went camping, just the two of us to one of our favorite spots. We brought a bottle of wine, Yahtzee, white Cheddar pop corn and enjoyed the gorgeous view of the unending stars. I just love the top picture, it totally captures my kind of camping!

Today is another beautiful day so we’re heading out with some friends for a fire and hot dog roast. While us girls chat and enjoy the day, the boys will be filling our truck with more fire wood for the wood stove. Living in the cold cold north means you have to get a big head start on the snow.

More sewing this evening…I have a couple new bags cut out and ready to go and I think I’ll have a chance to finish both of them. Yet another twist as I find different styles I like. I’ll be posting pictures!

New Items!!

In Uncategorized on September 5, 2008 at 4:31 pm

I was busy updating my Etsy shop last night…The only bummer was that somehow I deleted one of my items this morning…Dang it! I clicked on it to edit it and then decided it was fine. I guess by not pressing the FINISH button I made it pop out of the shop. Oh well, I’ll just add it again this evening.

Lemon Shoulder Bag, Little Red Sailor Bag, and Plum Flowers (which already has 53 views!) are all up for sale in the shop! I’ll be adding the grey floral bag this afternoon as well as the Little Yellow Sailor Bag. And hopefully sewing another one tonight (:

We were planning on going camping this weekend but since the hubby’s quad is out of commission, we’ll probably stay home…and go to the Farmers Market (: I’m excited to go again since I haven’t been in a few weeks, but the thought of waking up so early doesn’t crank my tractor. I’ll get over it though 😀

NOTE: Thanks to Tany, the bag I thought I’d lost off of Etsy is now found (was blind but now I see…) and it’s up! Thanks Tany girl!

Getting Out There

In etsy on September 2, 2008 at 8:46 pm

It was a long weekend this past weekend so I had way more time than usual to work on my bags (: Yay! My hubby says “So what are you planning to do today? Something fun?” “Yep,” I replied “Sew!”. He just stared at me blankly 😀

I had more fabric left over from the Nautical Bag, so I tried another color and just LOVE it. I’m really enjoying this pattern! I bought some great fabric on the weekend too so I’ll be sewing up different colors in this style.

We had friends over last night and they were looking through the bags I was in the middle of…I’ve now sold a couple of those (I’ll post pictures when they bags are finished). ANNND because of the auction my bag was in for Nie Nie, I’ve made new contacts and possible sales.

I forgot to post the Goals entry last week, so that’ll be coming up later on this afternoon (:

Enjoy your Tuesday lovelies!!

New Design

In etsy on September 1, 2008 at 12:06 am

I’ve been thinking about this design for a while now and finally had the time to sew up my first bag! I just LOVE how it turned out! I have a thing for nautical stuff, and this is just so perfect. I’m not sure if I will be selling this exact bag, but I’ll be making more along this line (not only nautical, but other looks too!) and selling them in my Etsy shop and at the Farmers Market!

Ps: Note the grommets?? I used my grommet machine on this one and LOVE it!

The Newest Bag

In Uncategorized on August 11, 2008 at 3:00 pm

The newest addition to the KJ collection (: A woman at the Farmers Market last weekend told me her daughter in law loved browns and she was wanting a bag of mine for her. She was thinking brown floral, but since I already had this fabric I’m hoping it’s something she would like.

I put button closures on the pockets, which I think adds a cute look.

Annnnd! I added a zippered pocket on the inside of the bag, something I’m really proud about!! I’ve never done a zipper like this and I think it’s the perfect touch to the Kj Bags. I’ll be doing it in all of them from here on.

I have a few more dreams for my Kj Bags, such as adding adjustable straps and O rings at the base of the handles. I really have to think about things before I add them to my bags. I like to make sure they’ll look good and figure out the “how-to” in my head before I start trying.

I love this bag…I really wish I could keep it for myself!

Nightmare

In Uncategorized on August 8, 2008 at 7:37 pm

What’s a sewers worst nightmare? There could be several of them I guess, machine breaking, just about finished a project and you get a stain in the middle…guess what happened to me last night. My scissors broke, right in the middle of a project. Yeah, just snapped in half. SICK!

I was able to finish with the house scissors, but they were totally crap. Guess I have to spend some money today.

I can’t wait for my sister to come in a couple weeks. Not only am I super excited to see her…but she’s bringing me fabric!!! YAY!
