Christmas isn’t even here yet and already I’m thinking of January birthday gifts! I just received this quilt in the mail (it only took a week!) for my Mom’s birthday. The three oldest kids in the fam are going in on buying it for her and we just know she’s going to die when she sees it!

I’ve been adding new items to the shop! These mugs were so much fun to make, I can’t wait to make more! I would have gone to get more mugs today, but we were busy painting our bedroom (yay!).

I’ve also been busy sewing another bag today! This one was ordered from a girl at my old job, so it won’t be going into the shop. It’s so good to be back in the sewing room! It’s been a while, and it feels good to be creating more bags. There WILL be more in the shop soon, it’s going to be hard to stop sewing now that I’ve started. I’ll be posting pictures of the new bag asap. I’m really impressed with how it’s turning it out!

Come and Get it!

The new bag is in the store and the new Zippies, Franke and Cass, will be up soon too! Come and get ’em!

Workin’ Workin’ Workin’

This weekend I didn’t sew and I only cut out one pattern. But I did work on my mugs! It’s funny how my mind is trained to think “If I sew, I’ve accomplished something”. I kept thinking all weekend, “oh crap, I haven’t done anything!”. But then I’d remember I had created seven 8 new mugs (one not shown because it doesn’t belong in the set), and I’d sigh with relief.

I also worked on my blog, notice the blogroll is back? Yay!!

Being bored Sunday night, I flipped through parts of Etsy I hadn’t been to in a while. I had fun Geolocating several different countries and found some great new artists!

I’ll definitely be featuring some of these new artist in the Friday Features.

I’m in a Showcase today (: It’s the Fall Fashion Showcase, which I thought my bags fit into perfectly (: Make sure to check it out!

Phewf! Last night I was able to finish another bag that I had been frustrated with on the weekend. Who knows what I was doing wrong initially. Maybe I just needed to step away from the machine for a while. I went back to it last night, took apart what I had done before and started again…no problems.

Now to take pictures! My camera is completely craped out so I’ll have to borrow one for a while. So no pictures so far, but as soon as I can, I’ll have some up!

I’m Stobborn

You’d think after having such a sucky weekend, I’d be ready to quit sewing for a while. But I’m stubborn. When obstacles come into my way, I purse my lips and prove to myself that I can overcome them.

Goals:

  • Fix the Sewing Machine
  • Sew more bags
  • Find a hanger (coat hanger??) for craft fairs

Tonight is a night for getting things done. I need to sew at least one bag, but I’m not sure that this is going to happen. Hubby and I have started coaching ball hockey again so our Monday nights are being taken up, but hopefully we can have a quick dinner and I can get a pattern cut out and started.

Something that I found super encouraging today was reading the “Quit Your Day Job” article on the Storque. Lillyella gives some great advice and really got me in the mood for success! She’s also made it to a Treasury!

Can I Just Say…

That I had a crap weekend. I did. It was awful, everything that could go wrong with my sewing did…I sewed a bag for my hubby’s Grandma and it has to have been the most frustrating thing I’ve ever sewn. The thread was constantly breaking, the pattern wasn’t matching up for some reason, the needle bent once and broke another time…the list goes on. I didn’t even take any pictures, as soon as it was done I gave it to her to get it out of my sight (:

The rest of the weekend didn’t go any better, nothing was going my way (not that I’m spoiled!) and by last night I felt completely unaccomplished and bored. I couldn’t wait to get back to work today!

At least that means that I’m enjoying a Monday at work though!

I’ll be posting more today, I just had to get this off my chest (:

More Projects

I finished another bag last night (: I love this fabric and I’ve made the handles a little bit different again. I tied the knot on the rope handles inbetwene the lining and the outer shell so you can’t even see it. There’s also two zippered pockets on either side of the bag. The handle is long enough that you can wear it messenger style too!

Yippee!! It’s finally Saturday! More sewing for me (: I’m planning on getting up a bit early since Hubby will be getting up early too. That’ll give me a good head start on more bags and hopefully a chance to work on my other blog!

Projects and Wants

I want this necklace, I should really just buy it and stop craving it…maybe next pay cheque. It’s just so awesome, I can’t get enough of it! Check out LF Jewelry Designs for more of their great work (:

Last night I was working on the bags again, I just about finished another one, but still have to get supplies for the handles. I’ll be doing another bag tonight too. I’m trying to complete a bag a night, I figure that’ll get me ahead in stock quite a bit.

I just found out that the craft fair I’ve applied to participate is happening on November 23rd this year. It’s only $15.00 for a table and apparently it’s supposed to be a very successful event. My plan is to attend two fairs this winter, I think that’s enough to get my feet wet and not get overwhelmed.

AND because the fair is on the 23rd this year (instead of the 29th), hubby and I are able to go to a Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks hockey game in Calgary (: YAY!! It’ll be my first live NHL game, we watch them on TV all the time and I’m SO PUMPED!!! I want to get a jersey too…and beer…and I’ll be cheering my guts off!! So excited!! 😀

The Newest Bag

In Uncategorized on August 11, 2008 at 3:00 pm

The newest addition to the KJ collection (: A woman at the Farmers Market last weekend told me her daughter in law loved browns and she was wanting a bag of mine for her. She was thinking brown floral, but since I already had this fabric I’m hoping it’s something she would like.

I put button closures on the pockets, which I think adds a cute look.

Annnnd! I added a zippered pocket on the inside of the bag, something I’m really proud about!! I’ve never done a zipper like this and I think it’s the perfect touch to the Kj Bags. I’ll be doing it in all of them from here on.

I have a few more dreams for my Kj Bags, such as adding adjustable straps and O rings at the base of the handles. I really have to think about things before I add them to my bags. I like to make sure they’ll look good and figure out the “how-to” in my head before I start trying.

I love this bag…I really wish I could keep it for myself!
