Mistletoe and Summer Flowers

In Uncategorized on December 17, 2009 at 4:28 pm

It’s crazy how, after a week of -40c weather, -10c feels so summery! “You know you’re Canadian when…”

I’m looking through Etsy today, trying to decide about a custom buckle from Fosterweld, browsing Gift Guides (and lusting over this summer floral picture by Get The Picture) and getting in the Christmas mood!

A few more things I need to do to get into the Christmas mood:

  • Watch Love Actually
  • Put on the Xmas tunes and wrap gifts
  • Drink some mint hot chocolate
  • Bake goodies!

Tonight my little sister is coming to sleep over. She’s 15 and I love it when she sleeps over and we can have a Girls Night. Chick flicks here we come!

Treasury by Monicaj.

I need to buy some headbands soon. They’re so cute! Oh, and see Mandizzle’s shop? Twice. Twice she’s been on Etsy’s front page Treasury!

Have you seen what Kitty is up to lately?

Monday Laxin’s

Lazy Mondays. Well, not for everyone, but for the summer season I have Sunday and Mondays’ off of work. It’s nice, Mondays’ no matter how many days you had off before, Monday’s are always tough.

So this morning as my hubby is leaving for work (late, because he’s self employed and can do that…lucky duck), I’m sitting on the couch, blogging, and watching Burn Before Reading. I knew I would love this movie, it looked like a goofy satirical movie…which I tend to like (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang…same thing, same type of humor, same unique story line. Love it!).

And then I’m looking through Etsy. And somehow, by going through my favorites and their favorites, I found this store: Ormolu. I love the details that are on Ormolu’s pieces, like these ones, or these.

The White Owl

I haven’t been visiting Etsy very often lately…partly because I’m slightly bitter at my non-success on that site, but also because I have tons on my plate at the moment (which may have something to do with my lack of success…).

Every time I do visit the Etsy site though, I’m reminded about the passion I have for creating. My eyes fill my brain with amazing inventions, creative conquests and brilliant ideas. And questions like “Why didn’t I think of that?!”.

The White Owl shopis now being featured as Etsy’s Featured Seller and it’s a perfect shop to be in that place. It’s a store you just have to take a look through, their pieces are so delicate and girlie. It’s captivating.

This and This

I was on Etsy for the first time in forever today and I found a few things that cought my eye (imagine that! This hardly ever happens on Etsy…wink):

And before I spend my last penny, I need to stop looking…

Oh: A new fave blog!

Read Beacuse You Love It

I have a love for books…a love I can’t explain. I try to explain it, and it all comes out muddled and gibbered up. So instead of trying to explain it, I just shut my mouth and go to a book shop to cater to my love.

And you know what they say: “When in Rome…visit your favorite book store”. But instead of Rome, it was Lewes England. When I visited Lewes last, I was 15. And I have been dying to visit again, not only to visit family but also to see my favorite sites. This book shop was on the very top of my list.

It was exactly how I remembered it! A small door to duck into, the smell of old books, piles of books on the floors and tables….it was heaven!

Until…the owner snapped at me for taking pictures inside the shop. Apparently there were signs all over, but I had no idea! I honestly didn’t see them. But just because they had been so weird taking pictures…I took another one. Ha!

So I have the day off work today…unexpectedly. It’s slowed down enough at the tax office that they don’t need me anymore, so I have the week off. I’ve told my new job that I’ll be free this week if they need me, but until they let me know if they do or not, I’m free!

I woke up at 5:30 this morning, not on purpose, but I did get up and got a lot done! It’s amazing what a couple more hours in the day will do for your housecleaning!

Right now I’m sitting on the couch, searching through Etsy, and watching Sara’s Cottage. Have you ever seen that show? It’s amazing. This interior designer is completely re-working a family cottage. And it’s making me drool. I’m going to copy her kitchen I’ve decided. It’s just perfect for the look I’m going for in our re-modeling this summer. Now, to just convince Hubby…

I need to reupholster the kitchen chairs so I’ll be keeping my eye out for some light green plaid or striped fabric. I think we’ll go for white rectangle tiles for the kitchen back splash, white and grey flecked counter-top, grey or light green cupboards (if I can find some that are affordable), and for flooring? Hmm…that’s something I have to think about yet.

Ps: Don’t you just LOVE this Treasury? The linen color is really getting me.

A Girl’s Gotta Do…

decal

Lookit what I’ve bought! This wall decal from Willow Creek Signs is going to look perfect on our new light pink wall in the bedroom. Right above the cream colored bed…I can’t wait to put it up!

Then, a couple inches above our bedside tables, we’re going to hang these little pictures by Skinny Swallow. I already have one that is similar colors, but a different photo, and this Lilly Pad picture is going to look adorable on the opposite side of the bed.

I can’t wait to get these items in the mail and to start decorating our room a bit more. Once their up, I’ll actually make the bed and take a picture to share here!

I might buy this one later on…for above the dresser. Or somewhere else…I just have to have it!

Another thing I have to have: This pattern. I need to clean out my sewing room and sew a couple tops for England! I’m still stuck on what shoes to bring there though! We’re going to be doing a lot of walking…but I still want to wear my flats and sandals! What to do? Hubby thinks I’m being silly, but a girl’s gotta think about these things!

Any advice?

Icecream and Treasuries

I’m totally in like with this Treasury! Aka Cinders created it and was a lucky girl and got it featured on the front page of Etsy! Wowsa! My favorite item? Why, thanks for asking! It’s the yellow pencil skirt, hands down. By Ureshii. Take a look at their shop, it’s like an icecream  store. So many flavors, so many yummy colors.
