Well, I just realized that this bag is no longer in the shop! I’ll have to go through my inactive items and re-post it. I love this bag. It’s so functional and perky! The print is so fun and happy, it’s a feel good bag!
The red bag I made (in the post below) was made as a diaper bag / purse, and this one could be the same! It’s big enough for diapers, bottles, a wallet, keys, and some baby clothes. And it has two exterior pockets to help with organization.

I brought a few samples of fabric to a friend to see if any of them were something she wanted. She chose this one and I was so excited to get going on it. Even though I was busy renovating our bedroom this weekend, I just had to make time to create this bag. The friend who requested this bag is expecting a baby in June and wanted the purse to double as a diaper bag.
Instead of using nylon straps, I finally had a chance to use the rucksack-like ones I ordered off of ebay ages ago. I sewed the top centre of the straps into tighter sections, which made them easier to sit on shoulders.

I was working on a new bag this weekend! There’s another one just about finished, but I ran out of O rings so I wasn’t able to put the handles on.
I was so thrilled with how this bag turned out though! I think it’s my favorite style so far. There’s three grommets on the top of both sides of the bag, as well as a 7″ w. x 8″ h. (aprox) pocket on either side. AND, this bag had an flat oval bottom, something new for my bags.

Have you ever noticed that weekends seem longer when you do something on Friday nights? This past Friday, hubby and I went camping, just the two of us to one of our favorite spots. We brought a bottle of wine, Yahtzee, white Cheddar pop corn and enjoyed the gorgeous view of the unending stars. I just love the top picture, it totally captures my kind of camping!

Today is another beautiful day so we’re heading out with some friends for a fire and hot dog roast. While us girls chat and enjoy the day, the boys will be filling our truck with more fire wood for the wood stove. Living in the cold cold north means you have to get a big head start on the snow.
More sewing this evening…I have a couple new bags cut out and ready to go and I think I’ll have a chance to finish both of them. Yet another twist as I find different styles I like. I’ll be posting pictures!

Here’s another new bag I was working on last night (: My hubby likes this one better than the nautical bags I made in this style. I really like the handle on this bag, it’s super comfy and fits really well under your shoulder.
I’m going to have to take more pictures with the white background, I really like it!

I’ve been thinking about this design for a while now and finally had the time to sew up my first bag! I just LOVE how it turned out! I have a thing for nautical stuff, and this is just so perfect. I’m not sure if I will be selling this exact bag, but I’ll be making more along this line (not only nautical, but other looks too!) and selling them in my Etsy shop and at the Farmers Market!

Ps: Note the grommets?? I used my grommet machine on this one and LOVE it!

Wedding Wednesday is coming, I promise!!
But I just had to share some news: Yesterday was awesome for me. First:I went to a jewelery party. Not really my thing, too much bling…but I wanted to visit and the girl that hosted it asked me to bring a couple bags so she could see what I made. Turns out, without even trying, I made a sale (: Yay! Second:I bought a new sewing machine!! I’ve been saving my money and found this great heavy duty machine on ebay. It sews through leather and denim no prob…I can’t wait to use it! I’m planning on doing a few leather bags, see how it goes anyways (: SUPER excited!!

The newest addition to the KJ collection (: A woman at the Farmers Market last weekend told me her daughter in law loved browns and she was wanting a bag of mine for her. She was thinking brown floral, but since I already had this fabric I’m hoping it’s something she would like.

I put button closures on the pockets, which I think adds a cute look.

Annnnd! I added a zippered pocket on the inside of the bag, something I’m really proud about!! I’ve never done a zipper like this and I think it’s the perfect touch to the Kj Bags. I’ll be doing it in all of them from here on.
I have a few more dreams for my Kj Bags, such as adding adjustable straps and O rings at the base of the handles. I really have to think about things before I add them to my bags. I like to make sure they’ll look good and figure out the “how-to” in my head before I start trying.
I love this bag…I really wish I could keep it for myself!

So the Farmers Market.
It went better this week, much better than last…but still not as good as the first. That sounds down doesn’t it? I dont’ mean it, I actually had a great time and was completely satisfied with the amount of money I made. I also received a couple special orders, which was a bonus…and it just so happens that I have the right fabric at home to fill one of those orders. Simple! I sold $100 worth of bags, which I hope will be come a pretty standard amount.
I need to come up with a plan on how much money to put straight into savings and how much money to invest in new fabric and supplies. If anyone has any ideas or wants to share what they do, that’d be super interesting!
I was talking with more of the sellers at the Market, just chatting about business and their products. One of the sellers mentioned to me that she has more sales if she has more items. Pretty simple idea hey? I’m still learning about this stuff, that’s my excuse (: So my goal is to make a ton more bags for the next Market I go to, hopefully I’ll have a bunch more sales because of it.
Now to go and fill those orders…
