She’s A Wife

In Uncategorized on December 9, 2009 at 9:21 pm

I have no words.

My sis is married, and so stunning!

Tears.

So instead I’ll post my speech.

I have been writing this speech in my head since Sall and I were really little. Not only because I couldn’t wait for the day that she met the man that she would marry, but also because Sally has had so many blonde moments and I couldn’t wait to share them with everyone. She’s lucky that I lost the journal I was recording them in though…

Weirdly enough, just after I started writing this speech, I came across Sally and Bruce’s EHarmony ads and I thought it’d be great to read them. Here’s Salls:

“Pretty little Trolly Dolly looking for tough guy. Must have money and be willing to spend it (on me), cannot have the occupation of a farmer, cannot live in Dawson Creek, must have accent. I have big brown eyes, will woo you with baking and home made meals. Getting old at 24 so save me quickly”.

Bruce’s was kinda interesting:

“Cop man looking for maiden in distress. Loves long walks on the beach, chick flicks (such as Grays Anatomy) and playing scrabble. Willing to sell motorbike for huge engagement ring and use handcuffs when needed.”

For those of you that don’t know, I am the reason that Sally and Bruce met. 😀 Sally had it in her head that she wanted to move back to Australia, so I hatched a plan to make her stay in Canada. I forced her to sign up with EHarmony.

Via phone and emailing Sally and I went through the guys that were suggested for her, not really finding anything super interesting until we landed on Bruces’ profile. For some reason I had a feeling that this “Bruce” guy was the one for her.

After her first date with Bruce, Sally called me and told me all about it. Sall’s told me all about her other dates…even texted me while she’s in the middle of them…but this was different. With every other guy Sall has dated, she’s been unsure. She’s questioned every step, she’s worried, and her stomach has been in knots the whole time. But with Bruce it was comfortable from the start, Sally didn’t have any questions, she wasn’t uncomfortable during the date and she fully enjoyed herself and this meant alot! My plan had worked!

Bruce, I know that you are exactly what Sally needs for a husband. You’re calm, relaxed, and adventerous. You’re a born leader but in a gentle way and you obviously adore Sally to pieces.

Sally, I know that you’re going to make an amazing wife. You have the biggest heart, you take care of those around you, you cook a mean meal, you’re understanding and you’re generous.

Marriage is amazing guys, you’re going to love being married! If I could give you one piece of advice it would be to always listen. Truly listen to what your partner is saying, realize that what they’re saying is a real concern to them, listen to their venting, listen to their happyness, and listen to their worries.

I know you two are meant for each other, you compliment each other in every way.

Everyone please fill your cups. To the beautiful couple: to love, to happyness, and to PDA. To the new Robinsons!

And just like that, the kitchen flooring is in and the cupboards in all their pieces take over our space.

We’re almost there, home plate (ha! get it? kitche…plate…never mind. Unless you’re like me and have been eating off of styrofoam plates and plastic cutlery for months on end, you might not appreciate that comment. Who am I kidding? No one ever gets my ‘jokes’. Dangit! ) never seemed so close. But first, a break for a winter wedding.

Calgary is in the middle of a huge snow storm. One bigger than they’ve seen in years, or maybe it just seems like that. Our rehearsal was cancelled tonight because the pastor couldnt’ make it on the roads, families flights have been delayed and even calcelled….but we’re safe, warm and happy visiting in this hotel. Ok, we’ll maybe “happy visiting” isn’t the best way to describe it. But we are visiting. Gah, I wish that comment was a joke. Oh make me stop now. It’s late. I’m tired. I’ll stop.

I don’t know if this picture will do the roads and weather justice, but this is what we’re dealing with this weekend:

But it’s an adventure! I told my sis that we would have to have the wedding in a small street in the middle of the snow, like Pheobe on Friends. She didn’t laugh. Apparently that plan wasn’t an option.

Hopefully she’ll let me live through this weekend…

Help me.

Fever

I don’t know what it is, maybe it’s my sisters wedding coming up so quick (three weeks!!) or maybe I’m just dying for something pretty, but lately I’ve been having the Wedding Fever. Here’s a few more links I am falling in l.o.v.e with:

We’re finally getting to the part of our kitchen expansion that I can be more involved with (will I regret saying that? Most likely…): The decorating!

The walls are drywalled and ready to be mudded and taped, which means that painting will soon be upon us, and then installing the flooring. Since this also means that within a few weeks (cross your fingers) I’ll be hanging curtains and recovering our kitchen chairs, I’m looking for options.

I’ve always loved these colors together, and since I saw it in a couple weddings on the Style Me Pretty Blog, I’ve been wanting to incorporate the colors into my home. If I can’t get married again, why not use in the home decor? Haha!

I’m going to be talking with my interior design friend to see if these fabrics would look good with the wall color I’ve picked out, and what she thinks about having them all together. Maybe a bit much? What are your thoughts?

I’m in a wedding mood today. A pretty mood. A “I want to be wearing a dress” mood.

And it’s Friday. Thank God.

The dresses came in!!!

They’re two weeks early, which is fantastic! We couldnt’ believe it…And they fit perfectly, the quality is amazing. They are exactly what we thought they would be, which is really saying something when you’re ordering them from a web site and really have no idea what you’re getting.

But we’re so happy they’re in and that worry is off of our shoulders!

Don’t mind the green color in this photo, I think the olive background made it look “off”, but they’re really a deep forest green.

I highly recommend buying from Lightinthebox.com. Highly.

Oh, and yes, they’re a bit long, but we’ll be getting them hemmed. We ordered them with more length just in case…longer is better than shorter!

Solved

The Mystery of the Bridesmaid Dresses has been solved! We’ve found a super deal on bridesmaid dresses at Light In The Box.com. The reviews on the site seemed excellent and the dresses are exactly what my sister was looking for. Other than the color…we went with a dark green instead of the sage she was initially going for. But that’s ok! It’s going to go great with her decor and the winter feeling of the celebration.

I wish I could include a picture, but the photo isn’t saving properly. Click on the link  to see the exact dress.

The dresses will arrive two weeks before my sisters wedding, so if there’s any issues hopefully that will be enough time to make everything right.

Problem solved. Weight lifted. Phewf.

S.O.S

In Uncategorized on October 21, 2009 at 4:46 pm

It’s my sisters wedding in just over a month. I’m the Maid of Honor, yay! Problem: We haven’t ordered or found our bridesmaid dresses. Yes, you heard right. No dresses for the maids.

We are waiting for color swatches from a site that has the exact dresses my sis is wanting for us, and it will take them a month to get us our dresses…once we order. But it’s cutting it close!

So I’m here at work, pretending to be busy, but really, I’m looking for sites that have dresses that might suit what we’re looking for. Forever 21, Anthropologie, Mod Retro, JCrew. I’ve found some options, mostly at JCrew, but they’re really expensive!

Our Wants:

  1. Long
  2. Flowy
  3. $200ish (less is even better!)
  4. Green (sage is perfect, but at this point, we’ll consider anything).

Any sites that we might find helpful? Any ideas?

I know I’ve blogged on Which Goose before, but can you blame me for wanting to feature her work again? My fave is this one, perfect for my sisters wedding with these dresses (in sage green with a white sash):

But it’s just not her style. Too bad. Maybe I can cry and get my way. Or show some cleavage. That always works with my husband.

A Tad Obsessed

In Uncategorized on August 12, 2009 at 3:55 pm

You know how I love weddings…like looove weddings…So much so that I attack every bride I know and beg “Let me help with DECORATING!”. It’s sad.

So that’s why I still have “Style Me Pretty” as a blog favorite, because I can’t get enough of decorating and ideas and colors and dresses and flowers and…well, you get it.

This weeks Handmade Wedding article in Etsy’s Storque totally caters to my obsession.

And I L.O.V.E. this, it’s such a huge stamp and perfect for any sort of funky craft!
